I think usually SI Polls get both sides...

By that I mean usually if they were to ask, "WHICH NFL TEAM WOULD YOU LEAST LIKE TO PLAY FOR?" usually they would also ask "WHICH NFL TEAM WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO PLAY FOR?"

Any body know if they also asked that and what was the result?

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

If that had top five least AND most, that'd be better in my view. Show both sides of the coin.

I don't think they did the pro one. I will look thru my magazines and see if I can find it.
As I said, I did not post it because of the negative factor. Rather to show that GB management has to do more than other teams to get FAs.

Zero:

I used to buy men's health, and they'd have polls about cities with the most pollution, highest crime rate, or fattest chicks, IN ADDITION TO some more pleasant complimentary ones. Again, would you be commenting on the virtues of the golden rule if the chiefs were substitued for the packers in this survey?

I honestly don't think the intentions are as vindictive as you perceive them to be, or that a free agent will see this and not come to GB as a result.

As I said before, I've lived in GB for 7 months, loved it. i did a lot of biking to Kewaunee, or up Nicolet Drive (gorgeous!!!), loved UWGB and the trails near Deckner ave, getting CCQ to go at Krolls...but could also understand why others would not be too fond.

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

You're asking the same question I already answered. I DO NOT CARE WHICH TEAM IS FIRST OR LAST IN THIS POLL. It's the nature of the poll and continuing of polls of its like that bother me.

So get the fuck off this shit about "oh what it if it was X team".

THE TEAM IS IRRELEVANT!

If the team/city truly is irrelevant, then why aren't you the flag bearer for the petition to ban negative polls in Cosmo, Men's Health, seventeen, SI, etc.?

There are polls about "who's hot/not," drunkest cities, worst town to have a one-night stand in, best/worst running towns and on and on and on in every magazine in the country, every single week. However, I haven't seen you get upset about it until your hometown is depicted negatively in a poll.

It's quite common and really not that big of a deal. Although not my hometown, I've lived in GB and don't take it personally, nor should you.

When has any of that shown up on this forum? This place would be pretty dumb if everyone on here just started talking about any random piece of information that they disagree with. Why the hell would Zero make a random post on a Packers forum relating to an article in cosmo that says which city has the "hottest" residents?

Brett didn't even know about Green Bay before being traded here. Now what, he loves Green Bay. Charles Woodson didn't want to come here either, this was the last place on his choice map, now he loves it here.

"TwinkieGorilla" wrote:

is this true? if so, that's pretty cool.

now, before you shut me out, i grew up in Appleton and used to visit Green Bay about 1-3 times a week to go to Kutska's & Concert Cafe as a teenager. i was in a band in high-school which practiced in GB. i worked for a year in Ashwaubanon. and so on and so forth. then at age 18 i moved to Milwaukee and was like "whoa, a real city!" and after that i moved to Boston where people said things like "oh. i'm sorry." after i told them where i moved from. then after that i moved to NYC where people said "fuck Boston, that place sucks." and now i live in Chapel Hill where nobody gives a shit about such things.

point is, if you're not on the map, you're not on the map...and even if you *are* on the map, people still have problems with it or you. if i didn't grow up in WI i'd have NO reason to even think that visiting Milwaukee or Madison is a good idea let alone Green Bay and that's like...the two cities people outside the frozen glove-state have actually heard of. sure, people know about the Packers but they have no idea where the feck they're from! the thing about Green Bay's organization is that it is, and hopefully always will be, different. and this is obviously something you just have to see and experience for yourself. look at the way our players handle the media and furthermore...never end up in the media for shooting themselves in the leg.

i say let people continue to wonder wtf Green Bay is all about. i love and have always loved that we are the absolute fucking ANTITHESIS to the fucking Dallas Cowboys.

the end.

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

That's pretty crazy. I've gotten the "I'm sorry" and "tell me where you're from again" a lot and I'm from Madison lol.

As for your post, you make no sense at all. I don't read any of those magazines you mentioned and I don't often look at polls either. I think they're content is derived of profit monkeys who don't really care about the results, but rather the financial results.

I've said a few times that the team and city are not relevant. I'm not sure why you're so hell bent on calling me a liar and trying to prove me to be one I find very offensive and uncalled for.

Here's one quote that supports what I have said, again. And I'll say this again since you failed to read ... its negativity being used for monetary profit that bothers me. Got it now? Can we get back to football? Holy christ.

The whole negativity sells thing has always bothered me. Something I pointed out to the staff was the day following a loss, the site's hit count boomed. After a win, crickets could be heard. Personally, that's wrong in my view. And more to the negativity sells thing, that's why I can't stand watching the news. They want to find some 'scoop' and its almost always about what bad happened to who. That's not news, that's tragedy. and you know what makes it worse? Us, because us as a whole glue our damn attention to it.

3- Green Bay is a small town. True. How is that a bad thing? You'd think lots of free agents would like that. At least, I would think.
4- Weather in Green Bay is fine. If you don't like it, wait 15 minutes, it'll change.

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

As porky and others have said, these are the exact two reasons why Green Bay did not fare well in this poll. You may like it that Green Bay is small, and you may think the weather is fine, but most people in the U.S. don't see it that way.

I've lived in North Carolina and Arizona, and I've met lots of people from all over the country, and I know that in general it is much more difficult for people from the south to move to the north than vice versa. The cold weather is a big problem for them. And of course the vast majority of people in this country live in places that are warmer than Green Bay.

Also, I think that most people who have to move far away would rather move to a big city. The perception, real or not, is that there are more things to do in a big city and that there is a better chance of meeting people and blending in. Smaller towns can actually be more intimidating because the social structure tends to be tighter, so that it may be harder to meet people and be accepted. This is not always true of smaller towns, of course, but I think a lot of people have that perception, and in general it is probably correct.

I'm not calling you a liar, and I acknowledge that you probably don't read cosmo or men's health regularly...

Some media emphasize negativity, others balance it, and others, like ESPN MNF announcers, make me nauseous with their compliment diarrhea every game.

W/ negative outlets, there is a hierarchy ranging from the Hannity and Olbermans of the world, to a more jestful angle, such as ESPN which has a poll of the 10 worst college football programs weekly on 'page 2.' Frankly, I've read the article before and find it somewhat amusing. In the grand scheme of things, I just don't think this one silly poll is all that bad.

As for your insinuations that SI is using this to sell a product, I haven't looked, but I'm guessing the cover isn't a picture of a dilapidated auto plant with a headline saying "ATTENTION FREE AGENTS...OTHER NFL PLAYERS THINK DETROIT IS A SHITHOLE, DON'T COME HERE!!!" No, it's a silly poll on one page of a 100+ paged weekly publication.
