What does being in the system (i.e. offense) have to do with the fact he's only had one off season with the Packers? I'll take fault here since I mistakenly assumed we knew why an offseason was beneficial to a quarterback for the Packers, but sure would be nice if you spent more time trying to understand rather than being hell bent on proving me wrong.

I could go into the complexity of the Packer offense.. one that took Aaron and Matt a few years to master if need be.

2010 Offseason minis, training camp and the entire season.

2011 training camp - Call it in season if you wish., practice squad.

2012. Offseason minis, training camp.. ???

Those are the facts. Nothing more. And I have linked the proof for you as well...

I stated that he has multiple years in the Packers system vs a new guy off the street having no camps whatsoever in the system as to why I think Harrell sticks. So I backed up that position with a healthy dose of facts so that it cannot be claimed that I took the lazy route to my point or that I made assumptions that rile up some pet peeve of yours.

I disagree. In fact, he isn't inducted, you can check the records for yourself. I don't agree with awarding people awards until they actually have you know ... been awarded them. It's the same crap lazy journalists do. It's something so easy, takes no effort.

The posts are great indeed! You speak of the complexity of the offense, which moves to my point that having only one off...err one session of quarterback school does him no favors. Again, you are probably right that Graham Harrell sticks, but I still think if he doesn't do better this coming game than the prior two, there's a good chance he'll be replaced. I'm not holding the Ryan Taylor or Hail Mary interception against him either.

Going back to the complexity of the offense, as I had said a week or so ago, even Aaron Rodgers looked poor during the preseason games his first few seasons. Matt Flynn at least showed promise (in my amateur eyes) to which I'm not seeing in Harrell.

Ted Thompson seems to do things no one has on their radar, so ... I'm thinking Colt McCoy idea is out of the water. Damn!

If I were the Packers, I’d be on the phone right now, offering a fifth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for Colt McCoy, who some teams around the league really like.

Cleveland would be willing to deal McCoy for the right price, no matter what it says, and the Packers could use McCoy as much as any team in the league right about now. He would be a great insurance for Rogers an give the Packers the type of backup they would need to sustain their playoff hopes in the event of an injury.

In a few months, Graham Harrell will get his long-awaited chance to become a “student” in Mike McCarthy’s quarterback school.

Through no fault of his own, Harrell hasn’t had that opportunity in his two seasons with the Packers. He was originally signed late in May of 2010, after QB school was mostly done and the offseason program had moved on to OTAs. Then last year, there was no offseason program at all due to the lockout.

Now we could debate that two plus seasons of work are a benefit to a QB... meaning weekly film sessions, game planning and grind type work. I think is of great benefit.. probably greater than the QB school. But the is subjective to each of our opinion of its value.

IMO, the real question for the Packers at QB is does Coleman stick?

My opinion, we have a ton of potential in this years rookie class.. some at real needs short and long term. But I think Coleman has all the tools to play in this league.. do they risk loosing him to a claim or chew up a valuable spot for another position or another more ready option at QB?

Tough call for say a Levine or Richardson type player in a position of uncertainty for the Packers.

Coleman makeup (film rat) and physical talents make him to intriging to me with Mike McCarthy & company as a mentor. But that is just me..

I'm just guessing here, but I think Mike McCarthy will like the fact Harrell knows the system and has been training under Mike McCarthy already so he'll be kept unless Mike McCarthy see a QB that would be a clear upgrade even if they don't know the system (which I don't think is gonna happen)...

But Mike McCarthy has gone with a rookie back-up before (two really... in Flynn and Brohm) and I think the 3rd QB for the Dolphins might be a decent back-up and the Dolphins need WRs and the Packers got them... so I could see some sort of we're gonna cut this QB and WR anyways so lets trade them to make sure we get what we want. But I think going with Harrell is more likely... though I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Dolphins are taking WR the Packers cut...

Or maybe WR Jones for QB Matt Moore and a late round draft pick.

Graham Harrell having only one offseason (e.g. Quarterback school) doesn't do him any favors either, nor does his noodle arm and lack of precision passing when throwing more than 25 yards.

Edit, had to edit this to add QB school as I failed in assuming it was obvious. Ooops!!

Way to get people to click on your thread, Zero ;)

Personally, I'd like to get a better view of what Harrell looks like when he's not running for his life.

beast (8h) : Yeah, but is Kampman and the others in the NFL Hall of Fame?

Zero2Cool (10h) : Yeah, he's in the ring of honor, just saw video and his name is up there
Zero2Cool (10h) : Didn't they have a thing in 2023 for Jimmy's ring of honor? I swear I saw it

Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
