Hopefully they get him on the practice squad. There is nothing genius about having this happen to a second round pick. Now you win some and lose some, but this will go down as a bad move unless GB is able to retain Brohm on the PS and continue to develop him into a viable backup quarterback.

Considering the situation, it's might be a good move to cut Brohm given his play. The draft is always a gamble, and granted it takes some QBs longer to adjust to the NFL than other players, but after his less than par TC in which Brohm clearly did nothing to solidify a roster spot, getting him onto the PS to continue to develop might be making the best of the situation.


Cut a guy that has some long term potential, but has done nothing to make your roster, and still allow him to continue to develop with your team is making positive something which had turned into a negative.

So do you thinkg Ted Thompson will gamble and go with only 2 QB? that way he can have an extra spot at another position? It is not like 3 string QB's actually do much.

I just think genius is a poor choice of words. I would say it's a creative or even unique of a move to put a 2nd round pick on the practice squad, but I wouldn't be shocked to someone pick Brohm up. I think a team who feels they can develop quarterbacks and liked him in the draft could make a move to get him.

Although if rumours are true that Packers are keeping 3 FBs, maybe they've told Brohm they'll sign him again to the active 53 once they trade a FB?

Really odd that Ted would just give up on a 2nd year QB who was rated highly coming out of college, especially when his HC's forte is developing QBs.

A couple years ago, when Packers kept only 2 QBs with Favre and Rodgers, they eventually Nall to the mix late in the season.

Ted, if I remember correctly, said he always preferred having 3 QBs around, but that particular year the make-up of the team called for them to cut a QB - and having Favre and a 1st round draft pick behind him allowed him to feel at ease doing that. But Ted did say he preferred going with 3 QBs, as far as I recall....

Does this suggest that they want to keep some other dudes? Seems like a pretty far out move. You know their philosophy is "the best 53." So, do they keep all the HBs and FBs?
