With the weather to deal with both defenses will have to load up against the run and make the opposing team throw the ball.

I do think, however, Rodgers will be more willing and ready to throw it then Kaepernick. I see him being more confident back there and more effective getting the ball to his receivers.

SF has a good run D in part because the have big and physical DB's but they don't have the guys that can cover as well as Shields, Williams, and Hyde.

My guess is they run the ball better than we do Sunday leaving it in Rodgers hands to have a much better day over Kaepernick.

They were discussing this on numbers never lie and they said Rodgers was the best cold weather qb by qbr that has played in atleast 3 games of under 30 degrees.

I don't know where Kevin found his facts.

But the Packers are going to have a huge advantage because of the weather! [duh] [sarcasm]

Obviously, it's not as easy to play when it's freezing ass cold and blowing too. So if Kaepernick's "below 40" games are 35 and little wind it really means nothing. I KNOW Rodgers has played in crap like this. How many times in two years has Kaepernick seen it? Once, maybe twice, and I doubt ever this cold.

I also believe playing in Chicago last weekend will help the team this Sunday. It wasn't exactly a picnic out there. Great tune up for Rodgers coming off 7 weeks for sure and not a whole lot different then what's coming up.

Note too that Arod's rating wasn't so great last week either because of the two picks. Aside from that all he did was win the game for us.

As far as I'm concerned, Rodgers has to play a great game to win, in addition of course to the offensive line, WRs, etc. But even if Kaepernick is affected more by the weather, the influence his defense, offensive line, and rushing game will have diminishes those aspects, imo. The 49'er's just have more ways to win the game other than Kaepernick. I'm not so sure I can say that same about the Packers and Aaron Rodgers. It's likely if Rodgers plays average or bad, the Packers don't stand a chance.

Regardless, there is a huge difference between 34 degrees -- which isn't that cold -- and the current forecast  for this Sunday, which calls for single digits or below zero temperature. This could be one of the coldest games in NFL history. Simply put, we don't know how Kaepernick, Rodgers, their receivers, or anyone will act. I suspect this is a slight advantage for the Packers. Is it enough to tip the scale? I don't know about that, but I’m looking forward to finding out.

So even if Kaepernick struggles, it's still going to be difficult for the Packers to win. I'm not sure how well the Packers would handle a constant does of Gore and scrambles by Kaepernick, honestly. Add in a few passes to move the chains off play-action, and they are going to be hard to stop if the Packers can't stop their running game. I'm not sure the weather will affect Frank Gore and the 49'er's offensive line. I hope it does, but I'm uncertain.

I don't think Kaepernick has even thrown 50 passes in those circumstances in his career so who knows how he actually is in the cold.

Dodd that's exactly what I was thinking. If we can't stuff that run game early, that play action is just going to DESTROY us. They have far too many weapons.

But regardless, if the game truly comes down to who can pound the rock the best, who has the advantage? The Packers rushing offense vs. the 49'er's rushing defense, of the 49'er's rushing offense vs. the Packers rushing defense? Hopefully Rodgers can still pass the ball well.

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
