They have bailed out the defense week after week, averaging almost 35 points a game. This time it was the defense's turn, and they failed miserably.

13-1 isn't just okay, its awesome! More I think about it, the Chiefs are not so bad. They had a new coach and apparently hated their old coach - so they were motivated. They had Kyle Orten instead of Palko. If anyone thinks we would have lost to the Chiefs with Palko has to be kidding themselves. The Chiefs won due a lot to Orten's play. I think we underestimate how good the Chiefs actually were or are going to be. The Saints lost to the RAMS this year. Losing to the Chiefs in these circumstances is not that bad.

No pressure of going 19-0 (which would have been F'N AWESOME), I think our chances of winning the SB are no less this week than after last week. Injuries may be a concern but whatever, I think we're going to be completely fine. And the D is not that bad. Yeah they did not get a turnover this week but we take turnovers for granted as a fan base. It is not the norm to expect your D to get 2+ turnovers every game. But our D will usually get those 2+ turnovers and this game was really an exception to that - I don't expect that to happen every week.

Btw, imagine if the Chiefs beat the Broncos for the AFC West with Orten at QB?!

I am not giving the offense a pass. Their performance was lousy. But as I have been saying all season, I have been concerned that if the offense had a sub-optimal game, the defense would not be able to pick up the slack. They certainly were not able to. The yards don't matter as long as your offense is scoring lots of points and you can pull an occasional turnover out of your ass to impress the starry-eyed masses. But the yards do matter if you can't manage those turnovers and you give up field goals on a day your offense is impotent.

I was at the game and it was a very miserable experience. The Packers just looked like they didn't want to play the game.

KC receivers were WIDE open. Some to the point where there wasn't a defender within 10-15 yards sometimes (the pass to Pope was one). Capers was running a very soft zone defense and hardly dialed up a blitz on KC. You can give any quarterback in the league that time to throw with wide open receivers and they will have a field day.

Our defensive line missed Pickett and is just not good all around. Raji is being double-teamed all the time and Mike Neal is basically non-existent out there. Matthews was easily handled as well. The Packers defense created ZERO turnovers. Last time they did that was the last time they lost...2010 Patriots.

Offense was just as bad, if not worse. What I couldn't understand was why Ryan Grant wasn't given the ball more? 12 carries for 63 yard (5.5 avg) and he was being motioned out of the backfield a few times (more than I have ever seen). I am guessing that has a lot to do with Aaron's play calling at the line. The receivers and Rodgers were just off all game. Randall Cobb was the only receiver who really came to play. People shouldn't credit Finely with all those drops because a lot of those throws were terrible. Finley made an amazing over the shoulder adjustment to a pass to set up Driver for a touchdown.

The offensive line injuries don't do the Packers any kind of favor. They were just as off as the receivers were and now we are fighting injuries. And though I know he is injured, I am sorry to say that I am not sold on Sherrod...at all. There were multiple plays where he hardly even touched the defender.

As the title states though, 13-1 isn't so bad and this has to be a major wake up call to the players and the coaching staff. The Packers have to make do with what they have right now and make it work. The injury bug was a lot worse last year and they were able to overcome that bump. Back-up players need to step up in the meantime and just get it done.

Side rant... a lot of Packers "fans" have made me sick to my stomach on twitter with the personal attacks on the players. I just couldn't believe some of the stuff that was being said to these players; more specifically to Newhouse, Neal, and Finley (who I don't believe checks his account anymore). It was embarrassing seeing some of these "fans" attack the players because of a single loss. Social media makes it way too easy for morons to act like even bigger morons.

13-1 isn't so bad.

And no, 13-1 isn't bad. It's great. It's just the nature of the defeat that chaps my ass.

No, that's just my point. Even with Orton, they only scored 19. They aren't a good team. 😝

No. Just no. The defense should be taken to task for constantly getting itself into situations in which it had to make goal-line stops. If they had done their job and forced more than two punts all game, this game never would have been in doubt. Do you realize Kansas City hadn't scored more than 10 points in 6 consecutive games? There's no question the offense failed to show up on Sunday, but they have done their part so far this season. They have bailed out the defense week after week, averaging almost 35 points a game. This time it was the defense's turn, and they failed miserably.

Whether a team scores 10 or 40 points does not dictate if they are good or not. If that 10 is more than their opponent, that is what dictates them being good. The argument would be more apt to their offense not being good due to 10 points a game being scored. Not the team.

It's morning and I'm half awake so let me see if I understand you correctly. This is what I believe:

Let's just say for argument's sake that we play an average team, whatever that means. They have an average O and an average D. Our D allows 10 points. We lose. Who gets the fail?

I'm more inclined to put the fail on the O. You gotta score more than 10 points.

--

Case 2. We rematch that average team. We score 42 points. We lose. The D gets the fail. 42 points should be enough to win a game.

beast (4h) : 6 days
wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
