I would hate the Malcolm Jenkins pick. It's actually the one pick I'm against. He's not worth the ninth pick and he's not a game changer where I would go away from great player at a position you could use to take him. I'd do that for Crabtree because to me he's a game changer.

I do agree that Jenkins is on their radar though.

I read some study that looked at the success of third year players coming out, and second year players coming out. Phil Savage was quoted as saying that the Ravens front office (when he was there) found that in a lot of the cases, taking the more senior player resulted in greater upside down the line than sophomores.

A good chunk of the third year players selected had success similar to what they were projected as - that is to say they realized their potential much more than juniors.

Looking at Jenkins, I think the Packers brass will really be thrilled with that about him. Tough, mature, good (great) instincts; its a lot easier and safer to project him than some of the younger players.

Ted has always said he prefers football players, and IMO Jenkins is one of the few top-10 football talents in this draft. Couple that with Ted wanting value at the ninth spot ... well I think Jenkins is the safest value pick Ted can make, which will appeal a lot to the Packers modus operandi.

If you're going to take a good, tough, instinctive, and mature player then why not Tyson Jackson. He's that and he fills a huge need. Not to mention I think he's a higher rated player than Malcolm Jenkins at least on my rankings.

The gap between Jackson and Jarron Gilbert is huge. The gap between Jenkins, Darius Butler, Vontae Davis, Alphonso Smith, and even Sean Smith isn't that huge.

I would argue that Davis has a better overall skill set to be a corner than Jenkins. I also think Darius Butler is capable of being every bit as good as Jenkins as well.

Jenkins brings versatility as he can play safety, but not at a top ten level IMO.

I look at Jackson and I see the best player at his position by far and the second best 3-4 defensive lineman in the draft.

Jenkins at nine doesn't make the Packers better.

Of course all that matters is what Ted Thompson thinks and everything you said about him very well could be what Thompson is thinking. He does like those types of players.

Good points Porky, but why does everyone assume Ted Thompson is calling all the shots? Mike McCarthy, and I'm sure some of the other positional coaches have considerable leverage in helping the Packers come to a decision.

Who I think at No.9: Raji

Who I want: Tyson Jackson

Far Left. Maybin/Moreno

Moreno will be available at 9. I think he has a good chance of being a real productive back in the NFL. He would defintely give us more umph at the RB position, we'd have a more flashy type guy. Most say we dont need a back but Grant is disappointing so far after his half a season of excellence. I'm hoping he'll turn it around this season and with full offseasons conditioning and workouts with OTA's and TC plus hopefully staying healthy, he has a chance to prove he's worthy of a spot on this team. If he doesnt play well then we need to give the ball to BJax.. if we had BJax and Moreno and let them battle it out, we'd be ina much better situation at running back.

Really looking at it though I wouldn't take Moreno with the 9th pick, that would be a major reach. Maybe trade up with our 2nd round pick, maybe throw in a 6 if we have it and pick up a late first rounder and pick up Moreno. I would say take Oher with that later pick if we acquired it but his stock has grown tremendously and he'll be a mid 1st rounder, if not top 10.

Ted will trade down to unknown later round picks that he thinks might be able to contribute to the Packers in 3-4 years.

I will be refusing to Post in any thread that involves Ted Thompson i didn't think it was possible to hate him even more, but he proved me wrong yesterday. I am on the verge of becoming a Lions fan atleast they expect to lose and don't have the huge false hopes. Ted Thompson is the second coming of Matt Millen.

Yeah?

How's that Harrell pick working out, Cheesey?

Because that makes total sense to what Cheesey commented on your comment.

As for Dhazer, what excactly did you want to see happening? Is this just about passing up on Crabtree? Or didn't you like the trade up? Because I clearly remember you not being to happy about his trade downs.
