The issue is not about whether Hoyer was good enough. It's about the fact Mike McCarthy said his room was set and then we hear Packers tried bringing in a FA especially after going ballistic on CK7 mention. It was a lie that Mike McCarthy was good with his QB room. Just more dreaded coach speak.

McCarthy just explained the QB room and then someone asks if they are going to bring someone in. You fast forward a shit game where Hundley sucks and then a veteran QB becomes available at no trade or penalty.

What if Hundley tossed 300 yards, 3 TD's and 1 INT? I bet we don't hear about this Hoyer stuff. The thing is, when McCarthy was asked, Hundley hadn't started a game with a game plan around his talents.

We should apply context to both scenarios, not just one to fit our narrative.

Well, if Ted didn't push hard enough for Randy Moss, Marshawn Lynch, and Tony Gonzalez why would he push hard enough for Hoyer?

It's speculation, but how do we know Hoyer was offered the starting job? Perhaps, he was told he could come in to be Hundley's backup, and assume the role if Hundley tanked again on MNF? What would you rather do? Be Brady's backup and have a real chance at a ring, or backup Brett Hundley on a season that appears to be fading fast? Maybe, he looked at the situation in Green Bay and realized he had no shot of succeeding here with what we have vs. what they have in NE?

Most importantly is what Buck brought up... 3 year deal vs. what I would guess was a lesser deal from us?

In NE he would be #2 this year and good chance at being #2 next year also as NE will be looking for a new QB in the draft next year.

3 year deal itself doesn't mean much as contracts are not guaranteed and I doubt there was any long term guaranteed money.

Mike McCarthy: "As far as pursuing any player, I personally was not involved in any conversations – especially with a veteran quarterback."

I'm sure Ted will have his back and come right out and say something.

Interesting that he didn't deny that the org spoke with Hoyer's reps.

EDIT: Here's MM:

EDIT: WOW! Did you listen to that? What spin! Totally uncomfortable. Tries playing it off as there may have been talk prior to deadline. Hoyer was released after and report came out after he signed with NE. Hate to say this but it's hard to believe MM isn't lying like crazy here.

I mean if he's not your guy, then why is he on the roster?

[Face Palm] OMFG, Mike lied?! Impeach his ass! WTFlyingF. The argument that a football coach lying is wrong/problematic is frightening, it's embarrassing. There seems to be an intellectual refusal to understand or consider how lockerrooms work.

EVERY coach has, will and absolutely MUST deceive to protect their players the "press." A coach that doesn’t do this is called an ex-coach.

Oh, I get it. Coach speak is a pet peeve. I just shake my head at those who want to base their opinions off what MM says.

This clip is so sweetly revealing. He couldn't be much more uncomfortable. Would you buy a product from a guy giving you this body language and rambling answer? For a second, I thought someone asked a political question and I was watching a politician spin on CNN.

Of course it could have been contrived by a sensationalist or careless reporter too. One thing we know is that if GB is looking to replace Hundley; we'll never know 'til its done. If today GB sends three 1st rounders to NE for Brady. Mike will say, "I'm just looking at Lions game and my starter for that game is Hundley!" Ad Mike will claim Hundley is his starter 'til hes not!

That said 1265 would have a due diligent interest in Hoyer even if Rodgers was 100% healthy and EVERY OTHER PLAYER CUT.

Who bases their opinion off of what MM says ON something like this?

I read the link Buck posted. Cursory, at best, is how LaCanfora described it. Even so, stating no interest in any other QB was clearly a lie as well as MMs spin job yesterday. You can bet many fans fully believe the org had no interest at all in Hoyer. Ask the guy below your question. This is where being a homer boxes you in vs. reality.

dfosterf (1h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (1h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (2h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (2h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (2h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (3h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (3h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (3h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (3h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (3h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (3h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (3h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (3h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (5h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (5h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (5h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (21h) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'

Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?

Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
