What we have seen and what is happening behind closed doors are obviously two different things.

I'm not a component of running a bunch of kids out there, but Ted, Mike & co. obviously know more than they are putting out there.

Daniels has stepped up, Peppers is here, if Raji decides he wants to play like everyone knows he can and take on a leadership role, that's enough veteran influence.

I'm not even counting Guion, coaches say they have enough tape on him, they know what he can do.
I will be real surprised if he makes the final 53 unless he can get on the field sometime soon.

They must be counting on Perry, Jones and Boyd to really come on this year.

Only time will tell, but the fact is, The Packers front line is gonna be lacking experience at times.

Somebody else mentioned it, Jolly and Pickett are still available, if it comes to that, The Packers could do worse.

I am very skeptical about Raji being the anchor nose tackle of this defense. I don't think he has 1/10th of the tenacity need to play that position, nor do I believe he has the desire for it. Raji should have gone to a team playing Tampa 2, where he could have shot gaps and made big plays. I'd really like to see Boyd step up and put Raji's on the bench.

but you need something to replace that subtraction with. Two of these guys WILL start this year - Raji, Boyd, D.Jones, Pennel, Thorton, Guion (if he can get on the field), Robinson, and Gray. Excluding Guion since he has yet to step on the field this TC, that's 7 years of experience, and three 2014 UDFAs.

As of now, it's looking like there's a chance that 1 of those UDFAs will make the team. They have 5 COMBINED starts for D1 programs that weren't even ranked in the top 25 last year. As for Pennel, who supposedly is the best of the UDFA group, this is what packersnews said about him this week...

Though the coaches at Colorado State-Pueblo liked Pennel, they thought he didn't dominate Division II like he should have. He finished 2013 with six tackles for a loss, three sacks, four passes knocked down and three forced fumbles, but he wasn't a full-time player because of the weight and conditioning issues.

😞

Of course, somebody needs to replace the two subtracted. My point is that they had very little capability to move or tackle; they were downright easy to run around; just about anybody from your list would be an improvement.

As for Pennell, I haven't even seen him on TV, but apparently they think a lot of him. I think that had a lot to do with getting rid of Worthy for next to nothing. Hopefully, he is a mover and a tackler, not merely a space occupier - a Boyd, not a Pickett.

In the D Line especially, experience isn't everything. I'd much rather have talent and attitude. That's one reason I'm optimistic for this year. The other is the apparent change of philosophy exactly in the direction I have been calling for. If people want something to worry or be negative about, try ILB.

DL was possibly the biggest season long weakness on the team last year, so why the love for Pickett and Jolly?
Packers have moved on. So should we. They are trying some new players that may suck. But we know what the players they replaced were capable of. So let's roll the dice!

I know what you're saying about experience. Cobb and Lacy started with no experience going into their first seasons too. However, it's one thing to have no NFL experience, it's another to have no NFL and questionable productivity. Boyd, Jones, and Raji are lacking in either or both, and then the other UDFAs, like I mentioned before, have zero NFL exp. and weren't even all that productive or even starting for teams that weren't even top 25 D1.

I don't no why some are seeing at showing "love" for Jolly and Pickett.

I look at it as another option that is out there if The Packers need experience Lineman for whatever reason.

I'm hoping The Packers don't have to, but it's good to know they are out there just in case.

Back in the 80's I subscribed to Packer News and every single article was just like this one. I could not understand why the team was always around 8-8. All the "experts" that I was reading were telling me how good the team was.
