The D did step up at times in this last game. Doesn't mean Capers is awesome.

I actually kind of view him as a guy who just doesn't want to work hard. He gets a new job and makes a good impression, then tries to coast as long as he can get away with it.

The Packers are struggling at DL, OLB and S because of lack of good healthy talent.

OLB position is very important to the 3-4 defense. Matthews is injury, Neal and Perry are banged up and don't quite seem like true 3-4 OLBers yet at much as 4-3 DE standing up...

With the DL they're struggling at good healthy run stuffers who are good at OL clogging. With out that most defenses 3-4 defenses struggle to stop the run.

And it doesn't matter what defense you're in, if the FS is struggling it's hard to hide it against a good or decent passing attack... and the Packers just plain in simple don't have a true FS other than maybe Jennings and he's been error prone.

It doesn't matter who's coaching those areas are very hard to cover up in a 3-4 defense.

Also I've read that Gilbert Brown and LeRoy Butler were on some radio show, and they basically said the defense seemed to have the right call in place and the players tried to do the right thing, but they failed execute, and the defenses struggles have been more on the players and not the calls.

Seems to me only Texas wants Dom back, and anybody that has argued with him knows how smart he is. [sarcasm]

That became dead obvious when Rodgers went down, and bad D started costing us games rather than just style points.

Whoever the D coordinator is, he damn well better be prepared to do some creative things - similar to Capers, because we just don't have the players to line up and maul the other team.

Assuming we also are not gonna be blessed with a new GM, the GM we have better get his head out of his ass and draft and/or sign us some quality - Safety(s), at least one ILB, and a bookend OLB, assuming Perry isn't the answer. I actually think we already have decent D Line quality. We just need to get rid of Raji and Pickett, and get a leaner more athletic rotation - Daniels, D. Jones, Neal back to DE, Worthy, Jolly, Boyd.

Capers had 3 of the top 5 in both but he also had two really low years... I think it was 2011 and 2013.

2011 they were using Dom's agressive scheme but they were failing to get pass rush pressure from anyone but Matthews and with Tramon hurt, Woodson slowing down and Collin career over they couldn't cover either.

2013 I talked about above, the DL run stuffing isn't winning often enough, OLBers are injured or hurt and not playing that well and the team has no good true FS.

I like Kevin Greene as a motivator, but the man isn't ready.

If anybody on the current staff should take the reins from Capers, it should be Winston Moss.

He's been in talks for HC positions for a number of years now, but he's always just coached linebackers. I wanna see what his defensive schemes are not that he's worked with both 4-3 and 3-4 bases.

Contrary to what you keep saying, I'm not that hung up on Capers. I'm more about saying we have PERSONNEL problems, not a coaching problem. Nobody is gonna do a good job with what we currently have, least of all a rah rah guy like Greene who doesn't even seem to have done a good job as a position coach. At least you, Dakota, are not pushing for him (are you?).

If we really need a new DC (which I still say we don't), how about Greg Robinson? I assume he is done at Univ. of Texas with Mack Brown leaving. He was the Saints bounty guy, right? But other than that, he's been a great DC - and plenty LOUD - to satisfy the people around here who crave for a motivator. I think Robinson will end up with the Cowboys, though, when they fire Kiffin as DC.

Edit: I'm wrong. It was Gregg WILLIAMS in New Orleans. Oh well, maybe he's available too hahahaha, for you anybody-but-Capers guys.

Zero2Cool (2h) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (2h) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
    packerfanoutwest (2h) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (2h) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
    Zero2Cool (2h) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (2h) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (2h) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (2h) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (2h) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (2h) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (2h) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (2h) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
    Zero2Cool (2h) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (2h) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (2h) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (2h) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (3h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (3h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (3h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (3h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (3h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (3h) : Packers will get in
beast (3h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (3h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (3h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (5h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (6h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (6h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (6h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (7h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.

bboystyle (16h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (20h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
    Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : rough injury for tank dell. guy can't catch abreak

Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
