The Patriots are better because they adapt to their personnel. The Packers seem to stubbornly try to change players to fit their scheme instead of playing to their players strengths.

Plus they have Tom Brady. What else do you need? Patriots have actually been pretty average to below average as far as defense for years now, but never quite as crazy bad as we have had the tendency of being.

All this team really needs is a defense that can hold their own and play fundamentally sound football. The offense is good enough that they shouldn't have to be exceptional every week on D to win most games. Most of the players we need are there, just a handful of guys that could use an upgrade. Get those and a quality DC and we should be a lot better.

He still should be fired. 1 game doesn't count one way or the other.

But in yesterday's game-
Cutler has a 103.8 rating. It would have been higher except for the incompletions and int on the last drive.
Forte had a 5 yard per carry average. That is with 22 attempts. Ridiculous. Bush only carried twice and he had a 5.5. avg.
Only 1 sack. I know there were a few pressures but there could have and should have been more with the weak OL of the Bears that was made even more so when the RG left.

I still look and question, is the coaching the problem, or is it the players not executing. We gave up some big runs because Lattimore was out of position in his run responsibility. We gave up receptions because coverage wasn't there. How much of that can you blame Capers for? Is McCarthy to blame for Rodgers throwing INT or players dropping balls?

It is his fault that proper adjustments aren't made. If you load Capers up, he's capable - but that's not the measure of a good coach. Getting it done when the chips are down is. This is where Capers fails miserably.

Is this really Capers' fault? There are other areas on this D that has been deficient in terms of talent. I'm struggling to see that the blame lies solely with Capers in this regard.

Statistically, we've been horrid on D. But, like hardrocker said, we don't necessarily have to be all that great, just good enough to get the job done. I'm wondering if we might be able to do that, and make the real run to a 5th Lombardi Trophy… I mean, if we are going to better our defensive play, stats and standing, we could not pick a better time to do that than now.

If Dom Capers can get this bunch to play lights out and help us win in the playoffs, then my hat will be off to him. We'll see what happens. I'm hoping to be eating a giant plate of crow...

I could see saying he needs to be replaced because the players are not responding to him anymore possibly.
