OK, so they really looked out of sync yesterday and the defense stunk it up again. So...........how many other teams are 13-1? Right, NADA! Maybe this will wake them up and they play like they can. Hey, wouldn't you rather they lose now than 5 weeks from now? The pressure is off for an undefeated season and it's time to get healthy and finish it off.

Years ago I was just a walk-on punter for Montana and we had won 16 in a row over two years and whether you realize it or not, the pressure is there. We lost in week 7 to Utah State, then went on to win the last three by lopsided scores. Woke us up soundly, plus the coach kicking our asses for being complacent helped immensely.

I'd rather be where we are now than the Colts, and Vikings, fighting for the right to draft Andrew Luck or RG III.

We stunk it up all around yesterday, but the pressure for 16-0 is now off and we can get back to just concentrating on getting back to the Super Bowl. It seemed like everything was more about going 16-0 than getting back to the big game. I'd rather have another Super Bowl than going undefeated and losing in the playoffs or the big game.

I think this will be a wake up call to this team and we will start unleashing an all out attack and dominate teams hopefully on both sides of the ball.

On the other side of the coin...

Valuable game film information provided by the Chiefs for opposing O.C's on how to's and dont's on beating the Packers.

A Remarkable dosage of confidence booster juice for the small doubt's that may have lingered in teams that will face the Packers this year. I can see every pre game speach from this point out begining with "You are better then the Chiefs, if they can do it you can do it."

What is better? A dose of humility for the Packers or a dose of confidence for everyone else?

Part of me wanted a loss mid-season for the reasons you stated Montana, thus I agree with much of what you said.

However, to act as if this is the team's first wake up call is just not accurate.

The team nearly lost/went to OT vs. the Vikes, Chargers, Saints, and Giants and has had their defensive inadequacies, most notably no pass rush, below avg. M-LB play, and sieve-like pass coverage on display all year long.

I'm not at all worried about the offense, about 5 mainstays out and uncharacteristic drops, Sunday was an anomoly we won't see again this year. The defense however, save for some OK performances against below-avg teams, has yet to demonstrate that they can be called upon to win a game if the offense ever struggles, wake-up call or not.

While we can complain about anything, I am disappointed about:

1) Not having the perfect season. As much as the Packers and their fans love history it would have been nice to add to Packers history.

2) Not setting the franchise record for most regular season wins. Other Packers teams have won 13 games in a season.

3) Rodgers missing out on getting consideration for MVP. His numbers are just not keeping pace with Brees and Brady. With a bad O-line he is not looking sharp and under control.

4) O-line and RB injuries make the team ineffective for the playoffs especially when Rodgers can't throw the ball in the wind and cold.

5) The defense's inability to get to an opposing QB.

6) The linebacker's coverage problems.

7) The dread of losing a playoff game at Lambeau Field.

8) Nobody wants to fall apart at the end of a season like the 2002 Packers.

I disagree with #4 to an extent, Calicheez. The O-line injuries did cause some issues with protection, esp. vs. Hali, but for the most part the run game was effective even w/o Bulaga, Cliffy, Saine, or Starks yesterday.

I'm being nit-picky, and agree with most of the rest of what you wrote.

I don't know if the defense played that badly. Certainly they held the opposing team to a score that should have been low enough to win the game. Yes they gave up a lot of yards but they have been doing that all year and we don't care about those anyway, do we.

If the offense would have helped them out at all with some possession time, the chiefs might not have scored that last touchdown or have been able to run out the clock. Defense was gassed.

Zero2Cool (1h) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (1h) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (2h) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (2h) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (3h) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (3h) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (3h) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (3h) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (3h) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (3h) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (3h) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (3h) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (3h) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (3h) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (3h) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (3h) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (3h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (3h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (3h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (3h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (3h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (4h) : Packers will get in
beast (4h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (4h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (5h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (7h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (7h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (16h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (17h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (17h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (20h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (20h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
