I give him 3 weeks tops before he's on IR.

Does that include the bye week?

He arrived in Green Bay today after flight delays.

Here is his locker room interview.

I like his personality, small town guy. He is from the same area as Tramon Williams.

I think he's a good fit here.

Buys us a few weeks to get some guys healthy then.
At least provides Raji with a breather now and then.

seems like a nice down-to-earth guy. He's started with the Saints, was playing for the Jets who have a great D so he's no slouch.

I like the move!

He's worked with both Capers and MM before. 340 LB'er. Plus he just got cut from the team we're playing this week. Sounds perfect to me.

I was thinking about this during the ride into work this morning. It seems to me like nobody would know the audibles etc. of the starting offense more than a backup NT. I wonder if he played on the scout team for the Jets during the season. He would hear EVERYTHING from Sanchez.

I highly doubt this represents a change in philosophy from Ted Thompson. I'm sure it represents a hard-nosed, pragmatic response to a crisis facing the team.

You know, what a general manager does when he's doing his job.

Think they'll make Merriman an offer?

I'm usually not a "big name past his prime" guy, but I would be all for them bringing Merriman in. Why not? He would benefit greatly having Matthews on the other side. He wouldn't have to be "the man" on D, just another piece of the machine.

Not to mention that ANY players will that even an adequate talent are needed at OLB with Brad Jones going on IR. I don't think Zombo/Walden/Briggs have it.
