No where did I even mention that Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan or Mark Sanchez are comparables to Rodgers or anything of that sort.

You just made my point, he's played TWO regular season in the NFL and THAT is ONE of the big reasons that talk about him as the greatest of all time (better than Montana, Manning, Unitas, etc.) is nuts. He has a 17-15 career record with NO playoff wins - THAT HAS AN IMPACT. It absolutely does. I didn't say, he lost a million playoff games, thats the whole point, he hasn't done anything YET to garner this talk, he's been in the league for TWO seasons in which he hasn't done a whole lot except put up numbers like Romo and Rivers.

Rivers has won playoff games, Romo won one as well, who cares. They still arn't part of the Manning/Brady elite yet. May be they will be one day.

I would love to see your statistically-sound critique.

Actually, you know what, don't bother, we are not going to agree. You are going to put out numbers about how Rodgers was the first QB in his second year to do that or whatever (even though its his 5th year). QB numbers these days are out of control. If we take these numbers, David Carr is one of the greats.

There's no point in arguing about this, you are not going to concede that all of this is premature, I am not going to concede no matter what statistics you put up that Rodgers hasn't done jack to deserve POSSIBLE comparison to Montana, Unitas, etc. - at this point in his career.

Is it safe to say that PROJECTING INTO THE FUTURE, it appears as if Rodgers will be an elite QB? If you go beyond the general (and yes, relevant) arguments about playoff wins and experience and dissect his decision making, leadership, control of the offense, physical attributes, vision, mobility, accuracy, etc. there is NOTHING right now to suggest he can't become a truly great quarterback.

That's all I really want. It's far more fun to have a QB on the cusp of greatness than it is to look back at greatness, anyway. This rivals and maybe even beats the excitement in the mid 90's.

But I think you have to be part of those elite QBs (Manning and Brady and maybe Brees now) before people start takling about the possibility of you being the greatest of ALL time. Thats my point. Nothing more.

Right now in the NFL, you can talk about Brady or Manning one day being the greatest of all time. It's ilke starting talk about how Mark Sanchez could be the next Terry Bradshaw based on one year - no way. Once Rodgers is in the conversation with Brady, Manning and Brees, then lets talk about possibility of greatest of all time. At this point, IMO, no way.

I'll just say this: I would not be surprised if many heterosexual men think of Aaron Rodgers while making love to their partner(s).

Overall, I hope Rodgers comes out throws 50 tds, 5,000 yards, 90% compeltion percentage, wins MVP, wins SB and the MVP. And maybe he will but all I am saying is that this point, based on a 17-15 career record, zero playoff wins and a couple pre-season games, IMO, all this talk about greatest of all time is a bit premature.

May be I will wrong come season's end, its all just predictions, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong on something.

Plus be weary of pre-season, its pre-season. I never get my hopes up or down based on pre-season but thats just me.

Judas H. Priest. Let's go with "cautiously optimistic" for the continued success of Rodgers and the Pack.

OR

We can start another meaningless discussion relating to the "true" accuracy of a little bit of hyperbole subsequent to a very nice smack-down of a very good team by our QB and co.

I'm going with option "a", including slurping on the green and gold hyperbolic kool-aid, for at least the next few days until our next pre-season game.

Your taking one part of my argument and turning it in the whole argument. I said its premature because he's only been in the league for two years, does NOT have a spectacular win-loss record, does NOT have a legendary playoff run (i.e., a Brady). I do not understand how that automatically means I think Mark Sanchez is better than Rodgers. I am so confused right now about how this got into me saying Mark Sanchez is better than Rodgers.

I would say the same thing to someone that said Mark Sanchez is going to be the next Terry Bradshaw with 5 SB rings because his rookie season he showed brilliance with a great defense. Its TOO darn early - he doesn't have enough on his resume yet.
