Oh brother! Come on RP, you have to be kidding?

Your talking about a QB that has never won a playoff game and someone that arguably has never even had a defining win yet. And YES, he's had chances.

He looks great right now, don't get me wrong but even just TALK about him possibily being the greatest QB ever based on a 17-15 career record and no playoff wins is nuts!

Lets take off the Green and Gold glasses, right now in the NFL you have three elite QBs, Manning, Brady and Brees. Then you have young guys that put up good numbers like Rivers, Romo and Rodgers.

The preseason is a great sign but at the same time its pretty much useless. The other team doesn't sit there and scheme for the Packers, if pre-season is such a good sign, the fact that the other team's first offense has scored on our defense at will means we're f'd?

Really? Hasn't had a defining win yet? Pssh. Whatever.

You might think this unrelated but there are a few connections to be drawn. Is Terry Bradshaw a better quarterback than Dan Marino? I mean, he certainly had more "defining" wins (four Super Bowls usually do the trick). Only powerful hallucinogenic drugs or a natural predisposition towards insanity can lead a mind to give Bradshaw the nod.

And so, yes, Rodgers is still fresh and still without a playoff win. That said, I'd say his performance against Arizona last year was unequivocally "defining". Sure, he started and ended the game with turnovers, but only a lazy review of the film would dictate his performance as anything but spectacular. We shouldn't have even been in that game with the way the defense played. I can list off other "defining" wins but I'd only be serving to lower the level of debate because the premise is obvious. Rodgers is VERY good. None of us will be happy until we make a deep run or win a championship -- a reality that has nothing to do with who our quarterback is or what is status is considered.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I agree with all of these sentiments, but I also want to point out that I said it two years ago, when "the fanbase" was immersed in Brett Favre crotch-sniffing.

I was told I was on crack.

Maybe some of those folks would now say I just took too many aspirin, lol

I believed in Rodger's the entire time, and have been a huge fan of his since his 2nd season or so. I remember going to the last game at Lambeau in the 2007 season and Rodger's was injured and they held him out. I was SO disappointed because I was as excited about seeing him as I was about any other player, including Favre.

I never understood how more people weren't comfortable with the move to Rodgers. Given everything the coaches / administration said, his preseasons, and his limited opportunity in Dallas, it was very apparent to me that he was going to be a great QB for this team.

I must say, however, that he has even passed my expectations at this point . . .

RedSox, you 'ol Brett Favre-lover, you, lol
He put those numbers up with a complete shit-box line.

That aspect should amaze folk, instead, some seem to ignore it.

Our boy has developed a lightning fast release to go with the accuracy and strong arm. He is actually better than he was, and he was so damn good already.

Watch out, NFL.

Yes, the O-line sucked at points but we have to at some point give out some blame too. I don't know how anyone objectively can say that AT TIMES (not always) Rodgers held the ball for too long. He has things to work on, a lot of it will come with experience but at this point, he is not Brady, Manning or even Brees. He's in with Rivers and Romo.

Redsox makes some good points...I think we need to temper our A. R. love just a smidge. The packers looked like a million bucks last preseason too and we never foresaw the impending doom of our o-line in the 1st 8 games...so wait 'til the real bullets are flying.

With that said, he's still a beast. I forget if it was to Finley or Nelson last night where he thread the needle, dropping it over a lb's head, right in front of the saftey into JF/JN's hands...just shows the amazing touch he has.

"I'd only be serving to lower the level of debate". How? I want to hear what you think were big wins for Rodgers. Maybe it was the time he hit a wide-open Jennings to win a playoff game in OT, oh wait...

The guy is VERY good, he's exceeded all of my expectations by a million. He's a top 5-6 QB in the league, which is pretty amazing to have someone like Favre and hten have someone like Rodgers, its amazing. He's a good guy thats been graceful about hte whole Favre thing, etc. But at the end of the day, he lost twice to Favre at 40, had a 6-10 season, has never won a playoff game, etc. That's life, who cares, he is young, it will come later but at this point, I want to hear what you feel were career defining wins.

Take the Yellow and Green glasses off, at this point, he's Romo and Rivers.

I am not really sure where your going with your whole Marino thing, under that line of thinking, Favre is the greatest of all time.

Overall, I hope Rodgers comes out throws 50 tds, 5,000 yards, 90% compeltion percentage, wins MVP, wins SB and the MVP. And maybe he will but all I am saying is that this point, based on a 17-15 career record, zero playoff wins and a couple pre-season games, IMO, all this talk about greatest of all time is a bit premature.

May be I will wrong come season's end, its all just predictions, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong on something.

Plus be weary of pre-season, its pre-season. I never get my hopes up or down based on pre-season but thats just me.

It's crazy, you don't even see the ball in the air until its in Finley's hands. Great touch and zip on it. It was a laser beam throw but with touch, impossible to defend.

I was actually going to craft a long, well-reasoned, statistically-sound critique of RedSoxExcel's arguments, but I've lost patience with his redundancy.

So I'm just going to ask, "Why the FUCK do you keep harping on his zero playoff wins when he's only played two regular seasons?"

Are you seriously going to try to allege that quarterbacks like Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, or Mark Sanchez are somehow ahead of Aaron Rodgers, simply because they have playoff wins?
