Again, Bigby is serviceable. He should be part of our Safeties group going forward. At the very least, he provides you an option as a spot-starter in case of injuries.

Yeah Buddy, but the problem is that he's been a serviceable safety starting for three years when all he should have ever been was a backup.

Not sure what you are trying to imply, Dakota. It's not as if his time as a starter he has been underwhelming - far from it.

His first year, he put up pro-bowl caliber numbers: 100+ tackles, 5 INTs, 3 FFs. He was pretty darn impressive in the playoffs, too.

Second year, like I said, is not indicative of his ability since he was plagued by injuries.

Last year: He has 49 tackles, 4 INTS, and 8 pass break-ups. He was not really a liability in coverage, either. Not spectacular, but solid.

I'm willing to concede that Bigby is an average starter - he can make plays here and there, but he can also be exposed. So yes, there is room to improve the position. But people calling for him to be replaced... I mean it's as if you people think he is Marquand Manuel 2.0. He simply is not. Either we are watching different games, or I am totally missing something.

I honestly don't have an issue with the fact that he has been our starting Safety for the past three years. He's done decently. But the pathetic depth after him.... I have a big issue with and yes that is all on Ted.

I still fail to see what is so terrible about Atari Bigby that people take issue with him. No one ever billed him as an all-pro. And he is far from being the problem that led us to give up huge passing yards to Favre, Big Ben, and Warner the past season. I fully expect him to enter Training Camp as the starter alongside Nick Collins. I'm fine with that - as long as we get some decent young depth at the position.

i used that video to show Bigby does take bad angles, Not many videos of Bigby to be found. Oh thats right he has to be on the field to have the highlights lol. As was stated earlier he has missed alot of games in his career and I would be willing to bet if he is still on the team this year he will miss more games.

As far as the comment asking about Harris getting ran over, all I can say is that Harris doesn't tackle, never really has and probably never will. He is out of the Deion mold and tries to stay away from contact.

Harris? AL Harris? He's a physical corner. Always has been. I hope they move him to safety this year so he can start over Bigby. I like Bigby, but I think he gets out of position at times. Like on the last play of the Steelers game.

For the record, there is nothing to officially prove Bigby was out of place. While Rock did a great piece de-constructing the final play of the game, he was engaging in pure conjecture in regards to Bigby being "out of position" on that play. The coaches have never, once, credited Bigby for being out of position. Neither has any ex-player (such as Leroy Butler), or any beat writer (for what it is worth) said Bigby was out of position.

Fact remains that the 3 deep-safety call on that play called for Bigby to cover 1/3 of the inside field. He did exactly what his responsibility was. He was initially in zone, and had someone come across his zone he would've been in more of a man-to-man coverage to cover that player.

CB Josh Bell should have directed his receiver towards help - which was Bigby. That means he was supposed to take away the outside, and force the WR inside where he had help from the top in Bigby.

The Fact that Bell actually failed to take away the outside does not, in any way shape or form, indicate Bigby was out of position.

Josh Bell admitted it was his mistake already. Bigby was not at fault. Bell said himself he was supposed to block the outside and force his man to the middle of the field where the strength was.

I don't recall that. However, even so: I hope they move Harris to safety. I think it's the logical time, in light of the knee and whatnot.

"No, that play wasn't my fault. Bigby should've covered the over, but was near the goal post and couldn't get back in time. I just did what I had to."

From Packers.com. CB Josh Bell has been cut this tuesday. According to McCarthy, he "has a lot of potential, but didn't fit the scheme well".

I am shocked to read this.

Frankly, it's a down right stupid comment from Bell. Bell is going to blame his poor technique on Bigby? It should be obvious from college football that you direct your receivers to where you have help.

This is the first time I'm reading anyone (outside of fans) blame Bigby for that play.

Ha, that's crazy. I watched the interview where he said he screwed up by letting him get to the outside instead of turning him into the coverage and admitted fault. I'm now glad the wishy washy bastid is off the team.

I remember that interview!

He also mentioned that he wished he had done something different like push the guy, even risking a penalty because that would have meant getting another opportunity to re-do that play.
