Well, I damn sure was.

That GD Rosenhaus probably told him how to game the system.

On second thought...

Don't give him an injury settlement, just friggin' cut his ass.

Make him and his friggin' agent take it to arbitration.

The only other alternative is that he is INCREDIBLY stupid.

I'll admit that this is a strong possibility as well.

:tongue3:

The worst part is Anthony Smith isn't a free agent.

Hopefully Will Blackmon steps up and doesn't get hurt.

I think safety is a good fit for him. I noticed that he looked pretty big in training camp pictures from this morning. He at least looks the part now!

You know, I have to tip my hat to Morgan Burnett.

"You probably have to go through a whole entire training camp, and right now it's still the first week so you're still trying to build your identity, find your identity," Burnett said. "So I've still got a long way to go. But that's my goal, by the end of training camp to be able to earn the trust and respect of our teammates and coaches."

Here is to hoping he is good enough not only to nullify Bigby's absence, but to also solidify himself as a starter.

I think the "stupid" explanation is more likely, but I wouldn't say he's incredibly stupid. I think he overestimated the health of his ankle during the off-season and figured it would be fine once he got going. I seriously doubt that he knew he was going to need additional surgery. And it is possible that he will only miss a small part of the regular season anyway. We'll see what happens.

Bigby should've realized that the Packers did not draft a hot prospect in the third round to play safety so they could give Bigby a big contract. It seems like everybody knew that except him. Either he got bad advice or he chose not to listen to good advice. He's a decent player, though, so I hope he can play this year.

Living in KC...I hear alot of Chiefs news...KC has a safety named Jarod Page who is in the dog house for comments made...and has demanded to be traded. The Chiefs hold his rights even though Page in not under contract...If Bigby cannot go and the pack needs depth at Safety...I say this guy is worth a 4th or 5th round Pick.

Bottom line Atari should have been in GB during the off season where they would have realized he needed surgery earlier not chillin in Miami hanging out trying to get more money. I'm a little scared about the depth at safety it seemed like last year during the playoff game once Bigby went out we got shredded even more when our backups took over for him.

I'm glad that they drafted Burnett who granted is a rookie but if hes better than Matt Giordono or Derick Martin we should be at least okay with Nick Collins on the other side. This is a great example of Thompson knowing his roster and having the foresight to trade up to fill future holes.

I also think that this has been a long time coming for Bigby ever since 2007 he hasn't been anywhere close to reliable enough and has been banking on a few big hits during the playoffs.

The limited numbers at safety gave guys like UDFA Anthony Levine substantial playing time and he responded with a very athletic interception. "I think hes a young man you ought to keep your eye on," McCarthy said. "He continues to get better. I think hes really picked it up for a guy that was at the bottom when he started. Its interesting, you see him, Shields and Burnett, theyre together all the time. Instinctive, tough, smart kid."

Rare praise from such a one as Mike McCarthy. As with Newhouse, I'll be keeping an eye on this young man throughout the remainder of preseason. I don't care if he has less raw talent than Bigby; if he can provide unspectacular but solid play week after week, I'd be more than happy to see him supplant Bigby.

Big hits may be fun to watch on SportsCenter, but I'll take solid, assignment-sure tackling over spectacular hits any day. Nothing I hate more than watching a guy going for the massive blowup -- and then failing to drive the ball carrier into the turf.
