I'm a diehard rebel myself, but I don't see how this can be spun as anything other than flagrant rebellion against rules to which both sides negotiated and contracted, no matter what he may claim his intentions to be. If he wants his friend to be honored, have the team raise his jersey on a banner at halftime or something.

I'm going to disagree with you here.

Chad was crying, literally crying, when he scored a TD last game. He took his helmet off and just started crying.

He was also calling Henry's cell phone repeatedly just to hear Henry's voice still on the answering machine.

We all grieve in different ways and Chad's one of those players who is overly emotional. Had he been born a white boy, he wouldn't be in the NFL but instead on stage and playing Emo music.

My heart goes out to Henry's family, but also to Chad. Losing a dear friend sucks and there's nothing you can do to bring your friend back. Nothing.

Let the guy grieve in his own way, as silly as it sounds to the rest of us. Heck, I hope he does wear 15, if Henry's family is cool with it.

The sport is getting too sensational, sorry. If you want to donate money to the memorial fund, do it but don't make a game out of it. At some point, you have to adhere to the rules of the game and the league. You knew the rules when you signed on, this rule hasn't changed since then. If you don't like it, do something else with your life.

Personally, I think that equipment violations like this should be ejectable in most cases.

The rules are plenty and more than needed. Plummer wasn't allowed to honor Tillman,

Excuse me!! Tilman was a guy who gave up millions of dollars to do something he believed in, while defending our safety and freedom at war and who was needlessly killed by friendly fire. Henry jumped or fell off of a pick up truck. Regardless of the circumstances, plummer didnt make a sideshow out of it and neither should Chad in this instance. Chad is trying to cope with the loss by making a show out of it.

For ONE GAME, why not let him do it? What's the big deal?

"Zero2Cool" wrote:

It's not a big deal unless the nfl is going to fine him which they likely will. The point is that the attention is being taken away from Henry(where it should be) on to Chad(where it should not be). Thats really the only point. The issue of changing your number is a non issue in my opinion.

"Porforis" wrote:

quite some good arguements here in this thread - I am agreeing with gravedigger - while Ochos action appear to be honerable in the face of a 'tyrant' what is occuring is as GD pointed out is that the attention is being taken away from the person that died and put on ocho and his fight with the NFL which he seems to be doing (almost every week) for what attention?

So who is this about ocho or the guy that died? if its the guy that died then why do something that is going to put the light on you and your fight with the big/bad wolf.

How about ocho or the team do something for henry that doesnt involve a "look at me" or rebellions attitude.

As the bible talks about - "There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven ~
A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance."

I'd also like to add that I love Chad and his antics for the most part. I don't necessarily think the action would have been all that bad in normal circumstances. But Chad, being who he is, being known for the theatrics that he is known for. His personality and his history is what may create the circus. Prior actions do matter. Your reputation does matter. How you conduct yourself does matter sometimes.

Chad decided against it because he didn't want it to be a distraction and didn't feel this is what Chris would want. But hey, Chad is still a bad guy because he's an easy target for assholes who light there life so tightassed they can't enjoy fun if it sat on their fat prickly face.

LIGHT UP, HAVE SOME FUCKING FUN!

Seeing him cry you could tell he cared deeply about Henry.

About the rule bending? Yes, the league has to use people for examples, but this is one reason to actually allow it. I agree that in most circumstances you shouldn't allow a player to bend a rule like this but think about it:
- It grants Ochocinco no strategic advantage whatsoever
- It does not promote any outside organizations
- It is not offensive or demeaning

This is a situation where the NFL should show they still have a heart and actually care about the players that line their pockets with cold, hard cash. We all know how much they benefit from not helping injury-riddled retirees. I feel like in a sport like the NBA or the MLB they would allow it. I'm sick of the NFL acting like they're the god damned police. Yes, I understand they want to protect and shape an image but there would only be positive publicity from allowing this to happen.

Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you

wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
