I say before we trade Kampman, we unleash him. I say we do this.

1st Down - Kampman KILL QB/RB!
2nd Down - KAMPMAN KILL QB!
3rd Down - KAMPMAN KILL QB!

If that fails after 6 games, then consider trading him. But don't trade him because he can't cover a freaking TE. Let him play like DeMarcus Ware.

Kampmans job, DESTROY QB. See how it works.

Not disagreeing, but we have yet to see it.. so if your going to piss away his best asset, getting after the passer from a down position.. then get the value returned from the player before we are put into a squeeze.

BTW.. Kampy is struggling engaging from the two point stance.. badly.. unless that changes I don't see him getting a ton of pressure anyway.

not sure how trading a premiere pass rushing defensive end makes your team better. To say, this player is to good, so we can't sign him is the most negative attitude a person could have.

Not saying we can't sign him.. we have the cap room to do it.

Saying, simply paying him premium money while playing a unnatural position might not be the most financially effective.

Capers in the offseason stated we would mix some 4 man fronts in.. I have seen little of that to date.. even in a Viking game that this franchise wanted badly.

We committed to the 3-4.. right or wrong remains to be determined in the big picture here...

They have been using 4 man front more than 3 man. That 4 man front is Kampman, Jolly, Jenkins, Matthews/Poppinga. And I have not been impressed. Would prefer to drop Matthews or Poppinga in us a Dlineman instead.

u-no-i haven't seen Kampman get beat in pass coverage. I don't see that being the problem. He just is not getting a chance to pressure the qb when he is 20 yards downfield covering a TE or RB.

If Kampman has a big year, he'll be do a huge pay increase. He'll have proven he can play 3-4 or 4-3.

Said it a couple of times.. I am impressed with the part of the transition I thought Kampman would struggle with.. that is playing in space.

What I didn't expect, that he would struggle with engaging people out of the two point stance.. it has been very noticeable when a Tight end has been standing Kampman up.. he used to eat TE for breakfast and crap them out by the fourth quarter.

Will that come.. maybe, but if it doesn't we have lost leverage going into the offseason with a franchise tag on a player that isn't a fit for this defense as we are running it.

Now put your self in Kampman's shoes for a moment.. you are arguably a top 5 talent at DE in this league.. are you in the class at linebacker? Probably not.. so if you have a choice at the end of this season, do you suck it up for the team or find a location that fits your skill set and money as well?

Don't know the player personally, but if I was in his shoes, as much as I love this franchise, I would have to consider what is best for me.

Just so I am clear, I think between Jenkins and Kampman.. they are in the discussion for the best front 7 talent we have.. I just think that the money he will command might out weight the return he get from Kampman at OLB..

He will have the leverage hammer come the offseason.

The trade deadline is only 5 days away.
We don't have the luxury of waiting to see if the coaches devise something to let him reach his potential.
I doubt he will be traded so in the end we will probably get screwed since he is in his contract year.
Would the Packers tag him based on his performance as a linebacker?

Bravo.. +1.

It isn't that he isn't a talented player.. we all know that Aaron is very talented.. but we are not taking advantage of his most valuable asset and something he prides himself on..

In the end, I don't think they move him, we are stubborn as all get out.. we will be going into the offseason with a storm of questions brewing around Kampman.

And to be clear.. Peppers for Kampman won't help us..

Oh, it'll help us. This board is always in need of some laughter and the sight of you in a skirt and pom poms would be welcomed by all.

Kampmann isn't getting traded, but he may not be resigned. I'm pretty happy with what I've seen so far from CIII so it might not be that big of a hit, unless he jumps the border to play for the purple.
