I have a sneaky suspicion that we will see Mr. Kampman in Detroit's backfield often on Sunday.

The second part of your post is true enough, but you can't use a Raiders trade as a barometer for the general attitude around the league regarding trade value.

edit: I was replying to Millertime.

Stupid idiotic assinine impractical

How do any of you know that he DOESNT FIT :he Kampman is what 4 months and 4 games. For the love of everything that is Green Bay. Let's say in week 9 or 11 if same issues are occuring then sure.
To trade him now would be stupid cause what if it starts to click.

that's why I think if he does get traded, it will be in the offseason after he gets tagged. It won't happen during the season for an OL, as some suggest. If it happens it'll be in the offseason for draft picks.

terrible idea!

how about we change the defensive scheme and allow our best pass rusher to actually rush the passer.

did it ever occur to our defensive coordinator that the packers have no where near the talent the Steelers had on their defensive line, therefore, the scheme that was succesful in Pitt, may not work in GB.

just a thought

WTF didn't you watch the defense last year the 4-3 didn't work to well did it? I know you like to do alot of bashing but switching to the 3-4 was a good thing and it will take a few years to get all the guys needed for it. This is all a learning experience for most of our defensive players.

a few years, really. nice. so we should expect what two or three more losing years b/f the defense turn around according to your post??

Okay.. so lets play that game.. we wait until the 9 or 11th week.. we have no option at that point to trade him.. deadline past.

So then we have a choice to make come the offseason.. resign him to a mega contract, franchise him or let him walk?

For that mega contract that [strike]we[/strike] he would get on the open market, is he really going to be worth in this system? Gamble about is large as signing Peppers.. you don't throw large chunks of money at a "maybe"..

Franchise him.. so here we go again, restricting the freedom of a loyal player to this franchise and a class A player.. will Kampman accept this or will it turn into another PR nightmare? Not to mention the franchise number of plus 15 million that will handcuff this franchise worse than the yearly flopping of an all time great.

Or you let him walk away with no compensation which in the end will hamper the Packers franchise.

I am not saying I want to deal Kampman, but if the right deal was presented that gave us value and made Aaron satisfied, I think it might be a wise move.

not sure how trading a premiere pass rushing defensive end makes your team better. To say, this player is to good, so we can't sign him is the most negative attitude a person could have.

IMO Changing the Scheme, does not necessarily mean switching from the 3-4. Just means calling the plays different. Kampman has been dropped into coverage way to often. So change the scheme so he is rushing the
QB more. Just like on the offensive side. The intermediate to deep routes are not getting the job done because of the rush, so change the scheme to more short routes. It is still the WCO just calliing plays different.

Not saying we can't sign him.. we have the cap room to do it.

Saying, simply paying him premium money while playing a unnatural position might not be the most financially effective.

Capers in the offseason stated we would mix some 4 man fronts in.. I have seen little of that to date.. even in a Viking game that this franchise wanted badly.

We committed to the 3-4.. right or wrong remains to be determined in the big picture here...

I say before we trade Kampman, we unleash him. I say we do this.

1st Down - Kampman KILL QB/RB!
2nd Down - KAMPMAN KILL QB!
3rd Down - KAMPMAN KILL QB!

If that fails after 6 games, then consider trading him. But don't trade him because he can't cover a freaking TE. Let him play like DeMarcus Ware.

Kampmans job, DESTROY QB. See how it works.
