Geeez, someone at least has a little intelligence around here.

+1

Haynesworth and Peppers. We should get those two in the house after we re-sign Jennings. I think that'd shore up our defensive side of the ball very nicely.

We should just match Jolly's offer, but if someone comes and offers a contract on Bigby, we should take the pick and run. Bigby's ok, but I'd laugh all the way to draft with that one.

I have said this before and I guess it needs to be said again. With where this team was at it would have been foolish to go after high priced FA's.

1) We weren't GOOD enough or DEEP enough and the timing wasn't right.
2) When Ted Thompson got here the CAP well was dry and he had to get that fixed or we may be sitting here right now having these BIG NAMES some here are waiting for but NOT in position to RESIGN all the guys he has to date.
Ted Thompson has done a great job of not chasing his tail by signing big name guys only to lose more core players than he signs because he can't compete with other teams in order to keep them here.

So many want those two or three guys perceived to carry us over the top but if that means losing key players over the next several years and having no stability I would not be for that at all.

More rumors....

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2009/02/diner-morning-news-10/

Now, back to Peppers. The Panthers cannot let him go, and they must franchise him to trade him if they dont want to pay the going rate. They must protect their asset. They have a better chance to recruit and match a deal for Gross than they do for Peppers. Where can Peppers go? Well, hell have many options, with the first being the Packers. The Bucs will also be players since theyre changing their scheme and will require more size and power up front. The Chiefs, with all their cap room, will be bidders and might be the perfect team to utilize the skill sets of Peppers. However, the Panthers, like the Patriots with Cassel, have to be in control of Peppers destination and trade him on their terms, not Peppers.

Yada.. Yada... Ya...

If Peppers is playing for the Packers next season, I will don a skirt and pom pom and shake a tail feather.

1) The contract he is going to command is going to be massive.

2) He is a prototypical 4-3 end..

3) He has never played in a 3-4... could he drop into coverage? Can he remain impactful from the outside?

4) Was 07' a fluke year?

Add all these items together, the clues will tell you the story IMO. No Peppers to Green Bay on huge money and no proven track record that he can fit into the 3-4 alignment and prosper.

IMO.. we have a better chance of trading for TO. 😉

I agree with you on almost all of this (and I don't think we'll get Peppers, really), except for the whole "can't play in a 3-4" part. I'm going to go ahead and say that I really don't know what he can or can't do, and if Kampman could play OLB in a 3-4, maybe Pep could, too. He didn't look too awkward catching that INT in the Pro Bowl, after all. So I'm less conviced that he couldn't do it than you appear to be.

Again, though, I tend to agree with you - I don't think he'll come here, mostly because it's just too much money to risk if you don't know the guy can fit your scheme.

Just shave your legs first before showing us that skirt and pom pom look.

This is going to be the year Uncle Ted spends some money. I believe he was really embarrassed by last years D, especially the NO game on MNF.

Actually getting Terrell Owens would be far easier. Owens has very few years left in him compared to Peppers and would cost far less money. Hell, if reports are true that the Cowboys are getting sick of Owens; Jones just might take Ruvell Martin even up for him just to rid his team of the dude!

Zero2Cool (4m) : I would think it would hurt the home team because people would have to cancel last minute maybe? i dunno
beast (13m) : I agree that it's BS for fans planning on going to the game. But how does it bring in more money? I'm guessing indirectly?
packerfanoutwest (25m) : bs on flexing the game....they do it for the $$league$$, not the hometown fans
Zero2Cool (1h) : I see what you did there Mucky
Zero2Cool (1h) : dammit. 3:25pm
Zero2Cool (1h) : Packers Vikings flexed to 3:35pm
Mucky Tundra (1h) : Upon receiving the news about Luke Musgrave, I immediately fell to the ground
Mucky Tundra (1h) : Yeah baby!
Zero2Cool (1h) : LUKE MUSGRAVE PLAYING TONIGHT~!~~~~WOWHOAAOHAOAA yah
Zero2Cool (2h) : I wanna kill new QB's ... blitz the crap out of them.
beast (2h) : Barry seemed to get too conservative against new QBs, Hafley doesn't have that issue
Zero2Cool (3h) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (3h) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (3h) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (4h) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (4h) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (4h) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (4h) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (4h) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (4h) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (4h) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (4h) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (4h) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (4h) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (4h) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (4h) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (4h) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (4h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (4h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (4h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (4h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (4h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (4h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (4h) : Packers will get in
beast (4h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (5h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (5h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (6h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (8h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (8h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (8h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (8h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (18h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (18h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (21h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
