I am suggesting this topic for people to take a wild ass guess is as the players that we might draft that no one would foresee.

If he falls to the Packers second first round pick (29?)I predict the Packers will take Daniel Jones Quarterback Duke. in fact, I would bet they would trade up to 25 to take him.

This has a feeling like Rodgers to me.

KRK, I myself have NO idea about college kids. I don’t follow college players other than Wisconsin Badgers.
So I’ll be checking back here to see info on posters here that are “in the know “.

If Gute drafts based on LaFleur's system, I could see him grabbing a RB higher than is currently being foreseen.

Not a knock on the current RBs, it's just RBs are a higher priority in this system, and my adage of you need two healthy RBs for a game and a 3rd because one of them will get injured, as we seen over the past 3 years with Lacy/Starks in 2016, Jones in the last two years.

But if there is a guy that has power and a good recevier, like Alabama's RB Josh Jacobs, I could see the Packers surprising fans... also the RBs from Memphis (Darrell Henderson, Tony Pollard)

Though I agree that FA is the more likely method, signing someone like RB TJ Yeldon, who is thought to be a cheaper FA, who has some power, has been used as a recevier, played under our OC in Jacksonville.

I'm not sure if these would count as not foreseen or not, but just throwing some names out there.

FS Nasir Adderley, Delaware in the first,
said he's cousins with Hall of Famer Herb Adderley (did say first cousins), sounds like he could be taken in the 20 to 45 range.

TE T.J. Hockenson and Noah Fant, Iowa
Fant got all the hype with shocking athletic skills especially for his size but Iowa coach caused some uproar when Hockenson got more playing time with the better all around game with being good at both blocking and receving. Most seem to think one will go in the 1st but which one... I've been thinking Packers could grab Hockenson, though that's partly because I feel fans have disrespected his game by over looking him and giving Fant all the hype when they're both quite talented.

Andy Isabella, UMass
The senior from UMass leads the nation in receiving yards (1,698) and has played well against the best competition in the country. When lining up against the Georgia Bulldogs, he went off for 15 catches, 219 yards and two touchdowns, which should eliminate any talk that he runs up stats against weaker competition.

With excellent speed that scouts estimate is in the low 4.3s in the 40-yard dash, the 5'10", 190-pound Isabella isn't just a possession receiver. He has legitimate deep speed and has the jacked body type to run through press coverage and handle physical cornerbacks.

Fills the slot need. I think he would be awesome in the new offense. Slot only guy so he's probably a mid round pick.

I too enjoy reading members post about who or what need they feel GB needs. While the WRs and the RBs and the TEs are the spotlight positions, I can cheer over a OT or Safety just as loudly.

I'd like to read what members feel are GB's greatest needs and why.
I'd like to read who members would like to see GB get to fill those needs.
I'd like to read about proposed trades, deals, and maneuvers that members feel would benefit the Packers.

Yup, Smokey. There have already been some good posts here.
I didn’t think of needing another RB, but Beast brought up points I had not considered.

I am a big fan of the running back position so if the Packers take someone like Josh Jones I'd be very excited. Not that I don't like Aaron Jones or Williams because I do, its just that if they justify spending that high of a pick on a RB it tells me they are serious about getting the RBs more involved which is what I want to see.

I do think there are bigger needs but I'm flexible enough to know that we do have more than one need and I hate the idea of going into a draft thinking we are going to draft the best player at that position in that spot .

IMO the biggest needs are EDGE, OL, TE, S, WR. Within the first four picks I would like to see at least the first three addressed. If we double up on EDGE or OL I'd be fine with that as well.

This is going to be a long read so you have been warned. I know its not exactly what you were asking for in that I don't throw a lot of players names around but I think its pretty clear on what I would like to see position wise.

My ideal draft would be Edge at #12. Who, I have no idea because like Cheesey and Smokey. I don't follow the college game. One name that I see a lot is Polite but I have read that where we would need him isn't a natural position for him, or something like that. Again, I have no idea but he seems to be a guy we could realistically expect to be there. I have seen Ferrell mocked before us and after us so that's someone who might intrigue me as a possibility (as opposed to saying I'd love it if we could get Bosa or Allen or Q. Williams which ain't happening unless we give up way too much to move up and I am opposed to that. ) Any way most of you guys know more than me about this stuff and I know Gute and the staff does so I'll let it up to them.

When I look at the different mocks I look at who we are picked to take and then when I look at other mocks I like to see where that player is predicted to go. If I see in every other mock that he is predicted to go after us I wonder if he is the best guy. If some of the mocks have him going before us I think great, at least it doesn't appear to be a reach. If most have him going before us I think he might be a great value at #12. The one thing that appears to be consistent is that there should be a good selection of EDGE rushers in the draft so I feel confident we could get a very good one here. In fact, if there are several that seem equal I wouldn't mind trading back a few spots. If we could move from 12 to say 15 or 16 and still get a good player and pick up say a third and then use that third to move up in the second (or just take another player) that would be awesome.

At #30 I'd like to go OL. Either a guard or someone with the future plans of taking over for Bulaga (whom I would like to keep for another year at least) next year or the year after. Someone who could play guard right away this year and kick out when Bulaga leaves would be ideal. I like a guy like Edwards from Wisconsin who can play all three line positions but this is probably too early to draft him. Maybe at #44 and we can take our TE here here if a couple of the big three (Fant, Hockenson, Smith Jr.) are gone.

At #44 I would like to see either a TE if one of the big three are available (if we didn't take one of them at 30 of course) If we take someone else at 30 I wouldn't mind trading up a few spots in the 2nd if one of the TEs falls to within range. If no TE a WR (again I have no idea who) I also wouldn't cry about a RB, another EDGE, another OL or a S at this point.

At #76 I'd like to see EDGE, OL, S, WR (again depending on what we do earlier) but like I said I'm pretty much willing to take almost any position if the right guy is there.

What I really don't want is to see a deal to move up too high so that we lose a good chunk of the early draft. We have three picks in the top 50. IMO we need to keep at least 2 of them. If we threw in #44 to move up from 30 to say 15 I would be OK with that but I wouldn't want to give up 30 and 44 to move up to the top 5 although it would be tempting if Bosa falls to #3 According to the chart I looked at 12+30+44 = 3.

I just think that with 4 picks in the top 76 and another 6 (with 2 4th rounders) on day three we are in a great position to add some great players at multiple positions. Some teams don't have 6 picks in the draft we have 6 in the top half or so. If our own picks were in the 25 to 30 range I'd feel a bit differently but drafting in the top 12 of each round (and the 112th pick from the Redskins) I feel very good about this draft. Now all Gute has to do is pick the right guys. I expect no less than 4 draft picks to have a significant impact by mid season and if that happens the rest will be gravy.

sschind, your post was long, but still a good read. You talked about mock drafts that you have seen. If you could provide links to these mock drafts it would be great. In addition, links to sites that rate the college players and give short bio's on the players.

For the $^*teenth time, LaFleur's new offensive sys will give more focus to the running game.

Watch the LA Rams offense and you will get a view of what is coming to GB.
