Man. I like that we got something for him, rather than have him walk away, but I can't imagine it's a whole lot more than a 4th rounder with the time he had left on his contract. I know everyone was pretty low on him around here, but I do think he brought more to the team than he got credit for.

I'm hoping that this means that we're gearing up for getting someone ourselves. We have a lot of draft capital and a QB who isn't getting any younger. Getting some picks back by trading away some guys who'd walk away for nothing is a good thing, overall, but these are the kinds of trades that teams usually make when they're out of contention.

Sad we only get a 4th but better than waiting until 2020 for a comp pick if we would even get one

Totally ok with this. Several times this year I've noticed where the opposing team has the ball between the sideline and the hashmark, and C-D backpedals at a 45 degree angle to the sideline to corral them out of bounds, sacrificing 10+ yards in the process. Figured he was either suddenly terrible at his job or protecting himself for FA.
