Isn't earl coming out of a broken leg and contemplating retirement? Or was that a year ago already?

I would give Cardinals my 1st round pick plus my 4th round pick for Patrick Peterson and their 5th round pick. We will have Peterson locked up for 3 seasons. We would use that on a CB anyway, right? Might as well use it on a proven commodity.

This draft is deep in CBs. We can get three in the draft. Offer them Cobb.

Trades for guys with big contracts is the behavior of a desperate LOSER of a GM. They simply dont work, nor do they make any sense.

Think about it, trading for a guy has all the pitfalls of signing a FA, so the odds of success are in the 15%-20% range.

If you can sign a supposed stud FA CB for $15M per; why trade for a stud CB pay him $15M per AND ALSO give up a 1st round or 1st and 3rd rnd picks...It's a double negative whammy!

Labeling anyone a loser reflects poorly upon the person saying it.

Trades, deals, or just plain out bidding for a player is never a guaranteed success. However when it involves a proven veteran, you've lowered the risk of getting a scrub. Some players have proven their worth and do command bigger deals. Some however were great players, but due to injury they are now not so solid a prize. It is then up to a GM to get the true story before they entertain any deals. Some players return from injuries to play at the highest level, while others do not ever make it back.

The Packers Organization may get fooled as to a player's less than honorable actions, but not as to their medical condition. If BG makes a deal for a WR or a CB and it's for large money, then it is in their professional opinion in the best interest of the team.

If... Thomas is healthy, he is a difference maker for any defense.. if you can obtain him sensibly, you do it. Only concern I would have is health. At his current deal, pricey but can manage a year at it our leverage it into a new deal.

Peterson is good... but I think his true impact is less than his cost as a whole.. in terms of what we would have to give up to obtain and on the balance sheet once obtained. Little leverage to redo deal.
