As hopeful as I was before this season began, the strict reality clearly demonstrates that at best the Packers will be fortunate to make it into the playoffs as a wildcard team. Teams like the Rams and the Saints and even the Eagles are simply better teams. I said teams, not one or two positional standouts.
I too want GB to win every game and collect more SB trophies, but dispassionate observation has led me to the following conclusions.
1) GB's new GM has already begun to remake the Packers beginning with, and IMO correctly, the building of a stronger core of CBs and Safeties.
2) As 2017 has proven, the Packers are one dimensional and are/were lost without Rodgers. I believe that too will change, but let's hope enough of that change occurs to allow at least 2 SB Trophies before Rodgers retires.
3) IMO the Packers future success will rest with the Offensive and Defensive Lines. I foresee a greater priority being placed on them, followed by dramatic overall team success.
Adding a player here and a player there, while in some cases can help, a change of course I believe has already begun and will be even more visible following this season.
