Playing in 45 degree weather today was preferable to the zero degree day Minnesota and Seattle had to slug it out in today. It sure didn't help Gary An....I mean Blair Walsh make a chip shot FG that would have seen Minnesota to the divisional round.
Let's not sit here and pretend Washington was a legit Super Bowl contender. They were the most competent team in the weakest division in the NFC this year. This was the "cushy" playoff scenario for any potential WC road team to have. After completely embarrassing themselves the last two weeks of the regular season, it was nice to see Green Bay come alive and show they can compete and not just roll over and die like a lot of prognosticators expected them too coming into the playoffs today.
We're playing with house money at this point. Given how we played in W16 and the second half of the season overall, we're going to be underdogs to a pretty complete Arizona team on the road. I don't know if this team has the horses to find their road playoff groove like they did in 2010, but crazier shit has happened. If they can get a little bit healthier, keep Aaron upright better, and do a better job at protecting the football, they've got a shot imo. It's a whole new season come playoff time. There's more pressure on Arizona than Green Bay next Saturday imo. Arizona looked weak with HFA on the line at home against Seattle last week and are going to be under much more pressure to win their first playoff game since their last playoff win against us in '09.
All four road playoffs team won Wild Card weekend for the first time ever. Is it crazy to think this team could be hosting a potential NFFCG as a 5 seed? If they can shock Arizona next weekend and Seattle beats Carolina, they will be. And even if they do lose next week, to me this was the best case scenario because at least they weren't one and done this year. Let's just see how this continues to play out.
