GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers' playoff picture is clear: Beat the Minnesota Vikings in Sunday’s regular-season finale and they will win the NFC North plus get the home wild-card playoff game that comes with the division title.

But is that the best scenario for the Packers?

There’s perhaps some sentiment that they might be better off losing to the Vikings. Here’s the thinking by those in that camp: As a wild-card team, the Packers, as the No. 5 seed, would play the fourth-seeded Washington Redskins, champs of the NFC East. If the Redskins lose their regular-season finale at Dallas, they would finish with an 8-8 record.

I wouldn't be upset if the Packers rest their starters and start Jared Abberderris and Jeff Janis. Get them ample play time with the quarterback. Give the OL some help so Aaron doesn't get killed.

If the Packers beat the Vikings, they would be the No. 3 seed and would host the No. 6 seed, which at this point is the hard-charging Seattle Seahawks, who could finish with a 10-6 record if they beat Cardinals on Sunday. The current playoff seedings can be found here. Both wild-card teams could end up with a better record than the Redskins.

Beating the Seahawks at Lambeau is one of the few things that could boost this team to win another playoff game.

And I do think they are pretenders.

What!!!
Lose to the Vikings at Lambeau?
I can't stand the thought of it!
This version of the Green Bay Packers is going nowhere in the playoffs, so I want them to win the division so we can end the season with some semblance of pride.
It would be a gut wrenching end to a once promising season to have lost to the Bears, Lions and the Vikings on the hallowed ground of Lambeau Field.
NOBODY should be even entertaining that idea of losing to the purple pukes in order to get a more manageable playoff opponent.

This is of course assuming McCarthy gives the offensive line some help with TE's or FB's chipping.

Wouldn't really care to see the Packer stumbling into the playoffs on a 2 game losing streak. I get that the NFC East is the laughing stock of the playoffs right now but Kirk Cousins is playing good football.

Would much rather beat the Vikings, win the North and have wildcard weekend at Lambeau.

I wouldn't be confident of us showing up, much less winning, either one of those games right now.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
