Green Bay --- The most surprising move of free agency for the Packers? That'd be the cap-conscious Ted Thompson shelling out $11.25 million over three years to Brad Jones.

We need ILBs who can cover. Keep in mind that Jones also provides versatility in that he can also get it done at OLB. Our staff loves versatility. ST too.

The ILB situation will only be 'awkward' if our guys can't make plays.

another example - mean while a guy whom we havnt liked for the longest time - jarred bush at corner but can play ST (and actually last year did very well at it) has kept his job.

Let's just cut to the chase.

Very few on this forum are going to be happy until Hawk and now Jones are gone.

I really hope that at least 2 of these "young and full of potential" lbr's FJNALLY step up and prove they can actually stay on the field and play better than Hawk and Jones.

Some of you take the absolute worst defensive performances of the year and use those performance as the "norm".

Would it surprise anybody to know that besides Gore and Peterson, no other rb gained 100 yds against The Packers D last year in the regular season?

There is improvements to be made this year, but ILB is not at the top of that list.

!. The addition of Datone Jones on the D-line.
2. The fact that Raji is in a contract year(which tend to make a player play to his full potential).
3. All those rookies who were forced to play on defense last year will show the year1 to 2 jump in maturation and improvement

These things happen and you are going to see a much better Packer D.

I really hope the a lot of these "young guys" take a look at just how Bush has stayed a member of The Packers going on his 7th year.
A guy with limited talents who found his niche.

Now he is considered one of the best ST players in the league, oh btw, there are a lot of players who should take tackling lessons from Jarret Bush, his cover skills may be limited, but he has proven when needed he can contribute as a nickle or dime back.

4 years ago it was Ryan Grant who needed to be replaced, he couldn't hit the hole fast enough, he runs into the pile, he can't break the big run, yet all he did was give The Packers a top 10 (or was it top 5?) rb until he was injured.

I'll say it now, like I did then, "be careful what you ask for".

I'm confused.. I thought Brad Jones played really good for NEVER playing inside linebacker for the Packers till this year. Hell I like him better than Hawk cause he can cover better than him.

What MLB than him played better than him, tell me, who? Hawk? D.J. Smith? Francois?

I don't know why it's surprising that we signed him to that contract. In which doesn't look that bad tbh. I think he earned it last season.

Brad Jones is the replacement for the role Brandon Chillar use to play for us. I remember a few years back, people were upset that Hawk was standing on the sidelines and Chillar was in there with Nick Barnnett. I really think all three guys are overpaid, but I guess it's the going rate for starting linebackers. Our inside guys are sure a long way from what San Francisco has.

Hawk lead the team in tackles for a loss and was second in solo tackles, so the myth of giving up yards or just piling on, is really not true.

The Packers pass D went from 10th in passer rating allowed with Bishop in 2011 to 5th without him in 2012.

I am pretty sure the Packers are not as convinced as some fans that Hawk sucks and Bishop farts gold dust.

But that is just my opinion.

Woodson got cut because of his $10 million contract plus, he's didn't fit in at CB any more (I'm guessing because he's losing speed) and didn't fit great at Safety (based on the Packers actions). I mean Woodson said he was healthy way before the playoffs but that the Packers were keeping him out, and didn't let him come back until the playoffs. They liked Jennings and McMillian and were getting ready for this year.

Bush on the other hand is only getting $1.35 Million and while he's only good at STs, he's the best the Packers have at gunner and while a lot of people thinking a gunner should be easy it's harder for a lot of guys than you'd think. Bush is surprising good at beating the press and even beating double teams which the Bears and some other teams have loved to do over the years.

Zero2Cool (4h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (7h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (7h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (9h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (9h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (9h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (9h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (9h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (9h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (9h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (9h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (9h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (9h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (9h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (9h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (10h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (11h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (11h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (11h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
