I've seen those numbers and one thing to keep in mind is that it's by the car. Scions for example have only 5% of their parts made in the USA and don't contribute to that many jobs. Honda Accords used to be made in California but I don't know whether or not they still are to be honest.

Let's also keep in mind that there are both blue collar and white collar jobs that make cars. The engineers for the foreign companies are all overseas whereas the engineers for Ford all work in Detroit.

Actually, I have a friend who's an Engineer for Ford. I'll ask her.

(disclaimer - both Mrs. Z and I are Ford shareholders)

Heh, I'll watch the ads for the tits, not the car. You couldn't pay me enough to drive anything not ford/chevy/dodge
I pick my trucks for usefulness, power, and ability to have fun. For instance: I own a 2004 dodge 2500 cummins turbo diesel. Not for the stereotype of a redneck, not to be bigger than everyone else. I use it everyday for what it is meant for, work.
I don't care if you put a dozen naked models in a commercial or one overweight male in a thong, if it gets the job done, I'm buying it. I think any debate over advertisements, especially for cars, is one of the dumbest things to talk about.

Also, it does not matter where the parts are made. Injectors are injectors no matter where they are made, pistons are pistons no matter where they are made. It is how the car is designed that effects performance. What's the point of advertising a heavy duty pickup that has an axle designed for a coupe sports car, and suspension designed for a family sedan? Most companies today use the same parts in all of their models, that's why they are low quality.

Dodge uses Dana axles (TOP of the market for axles) stock on their pickups, smart.

Honda uses Apex axles (cheap, many broken, terrible performance) which Dodge used in their 1969 W200 pickup for ONE year.

The performance of the cars comes from the minds, not the assembly lines.

Why are there titty ads? Because it sells merchandise. These kind of ads have been around for more than 50 years. If it didn't work they would change. Granted they will not get many 30-50 soccer moms with this ad but they will get a million hits on youtube before it is done.

OR they make you look like complete idiots incapable of forming a sentence, standing up to a woman, &/or cleaning up after yourselves.

As for the t/a in commercials, as I said advertisers wouldn't waste their bucks making the commercial if they didn't feel they were successful. I remember a marketing class in college we were discussing commercials. One of the commercials that was made in the late 70's was a huge success. It won a Cleo. People loved it. Thought it was funny. The manufacturer scrapped it after just a few months and fired the ad agency. It seems while everyone enjoyed it and laughed and liked the commercial they could not remember what the product was that was being sold. So the commercial was useless. Point is no one will keep using an ad unless it sells their product or service. For better or worse, right or wrong babes and boobs and butts work.

The other organ I have for you is a called a penis. It will allow you to reproduce your own

Adam, very excited, exclaimed "these are great gifts you have given me.
What could possibly be bad news after such great tidings?"

The Lord looked upon Adam and said with great sorrow,
"The bad news is that when I created you I only gave you enough blood to operate one of
these organs at a time."

My statement was simple - made in America protects American jobs. I said straight up that if you buy a Honda Accord (I don't know the exact years), you are employing Californians. If you buy a Scion, you are not employing that many Americans.

Now if you're buying German cars, you're hardly employing Americans at all.

I don't know how it is in other states, but when you go to the dealer and look at new cars, it's posted on the sticker what percentage of the car is made from American parts. Certain Japanese models actually are quite high. Then again, some aren't. But I didn't see a single German car that had over 20%.

Now back to the ad itself, I'm with Al. I like looking at babes but that's the absolute last thing I remember when looking at a car to purchase. My Saturns I've owned just work and they're cheap. If you need a neat-o car to impress the babes, you're lacking charisma. My Ford Taurus got 272k miles before the transmission died. (I used to do my own engine work but when a transmission dies, I junk the car). Then I got 168k out of my 1st Saturn but unfortunately, the transmission was going and I traded it in for another Saturn. Then Saturn went out of business.

That 168k is deceptively low. I was in bumper to bumper traffic for the first 100k miles so that put a lot of wear and tear on it. The engine itself was cherry. I was averaging over 35 mpg on the freeway and driving from Texas to California, I got 45+ for some stretches.

These were all really good cars, despite what the American hating media likes to say. If you check Consumer Reports, Ford is neck and neck with the Japanese. Americans still build really good trucks (Al is right). And German cars and English cars suck.

My Saturns were built in Tennessee.

And 4Pack - America is the most sexually frustrated nation of the 1st world (well, tied with the Brits). That's why. Everyone else enjoys sex (except the British).

Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
