My statement was simple - made in America protects American jobs. I said straight up that if you buy a Honda Accord (I don't know the exact years), you are employing Californians. If you buy a Scion, you are not employing that many Americans.
Now if you're buying German cars, you're hardly employing Americans at all.
I don't know how it is in other states, but when you go to the dealer and look at new cars, it's posted on the sticker what percentage of the car is made from American parts. Certain Japanese models actually are quite high. Then again, some aren't. But I didn't see a single German car that had over 20%.
Now back to the ad itself, I'm with Al. I like looking at babes but that's the absolute last thing I remember when looking at a car to purchase. My Saturns I've owned just work and they're cheap. If you need a neat-o car to impress the babes, you're lacking charisma. My Ford Taurus got 272k miles before the transmission died. (I used to do my own engine work but when a transmission dies, I junk the car). Then I got 168k out of my 1st Saturn but unfortunately, the transmission was going and I traded it in for another Saturn. Then Saturn went out of business.
That 168k is deceptively low. I was in bumper to bumper traffic for the first 100k miles so that put a lot of wear and tear on it. The engine itself was cherry. I was averaging over 35 mpg on the freeway and driving from Texas to California, I got 45+ for some stretches.
These were all really good cars, despite what the American hating media likes to say. If you check Consumer Reports, Ford is neck and neck with the Japanese. Americans still build really good trucks (Al is right). And German cars and English cars suck.
My Saturns were built in Tennessee.
And 4Pack - America is the most sexually frustrated nation of the 1st world (well, tied with the Brits). That's why. Everyone else enjoys sex (except the British).
