There are a number of things that contribute to winning. You don't HAVE to have them all, but some of them make it easier to win than others (elite D, elite QB, etc). And the more things you have (elite D + elite QB + elite running game > elite D + elite QB) the better your chances of winning.

Although this might sting some Denver fans, their RB got too much credit in that game. If you watch the game again, you'll notice that the OL did all the work. That game was lost on the trenches, not just to the RB. But of course, the guy with the ball gets more credit than the guys who do the blocking, even if the guys doing the blocking are making holes big enough to drive a truck through.

By the 4th Q, our DL was completely worn out. It was painful to watch.
