I agree that he probably wouldn't dig Wisconsin, but he would be a nice addition. A RB depth chart of Grant, Starks, and Bush, and having Bush return punts / kicks. Would be nasty.

We've been lacking a screen guy for awhile and also a return guy. The catch is he'd demand a lot of money and I don't think Ted will think he'd be worth what Bush would ask for.

We need to replace our 3rd down blocking back with that little scat back from Oregon and let him return kickoffs. Then draft a combo WR/Punt returner to compete with Swain for the 4th receiver. I think Uncle Ted takes 2 receivers in this draft. Can't repeat the sins of Ron Wolf and leave a future Hall of Fame QB with a receiving corp of Bradford & Schroeder as 2 & 3.

wow....I agree with everyone who has chimed in this time. I'd love to see it happen. I think he would be a perfect fit for multiple reasons. I don't see Ted doing it though. But I also remember him signing a guy who was said to be too expensive and a bad locker room guy from Oakland a few years back.

Oh well, with this crabby CBA stuff going on we have to entertain ourselves with this kind talk anyways.

What is the difference in production between Jackson and Bush?

Jackson last year, 1045 yards rec/rush.
Bush last year, 358 rec/rush.
Bush only played in half as many games so if you double that, 716 yards.

Speaking of missing games,
Bush missed 20 games in 5 years or 4 per and 8 last year. His number of games missed each year has been increasing.
Jackson missed 12 in 4 years or 3 per and none last year. His number of missed games ea year has been declining.

How about sure handed?
Career wise,
Jackson fumbled 3 times and lost none in 457 touches for 4.75 yards per.
Bush fumbled 19 time and lost 10 in 818 touches for 5.17 yards per.

I would suggest that you ignore the name, just look at the production. If I showed his stats and not his name, would any one still want him?

I'm lost. Who is Jackson? Brandon Jackson? If it's him, what's he doing in a thread about kick returners?

Reggie Bush to the Packers makes no sense, but hey, it's the off season.

From Adam Caplan.

Adam's not a bad source, usually, but this makes little sense. With the new rule changes, return guys will have even less value, and hasn't Ted Thompson already come out against specialists in general?

"djcubez" wrote:

I'm pretty sure you're right. I remember Ted Thompson saying something about how he would never keep a player on the 53-man roster for only being a good return specialist.

"Since69" wrote:

Thompson has drafted a couple of WRs returners in the past. Of course they sucked at WR and were cut. And I could be wrong but I thought MM had final say on the 53 man roster? (could be wrong on that).

Look, if we're willing to keep 3 roster spots for fullbacks, im sure we'll be ok giving a spot to a return specialist

"gbguy20" wrote:

Under MM the Packers have kept 3 FB twice as well as 4 TEs twice... and not once kept a return specialist as of yet.... other than Blackmon but he was good enough to make it at DB even with out the return skills.

MM did say something to the effect of we need to upgrade the returning position and took blame for not having one saying if there is a good returner than it's his responsibility to get him involved on offense.

To me that surprised me as before that the stance has been... we take the best 53 on O and D (with of course the 3 spots saved for STs)... and to me that signaled a change and they might be willing to keep a good returner and work him into the offense based on his skill set.

I was so hoping to see an end around with Blackmon at WR, taking the hand off and attacking the field but never happened.

Also I've been wanting to see a trick play where Nelson throws the ball... he was good in college with those and has shown impressive throwing accuracy in warm ups.

(Rodgers would hold his hand out and not move at all, and from a pretty good distance Nelson would hit Rodgers hand.... doesn't mean he can do it in a game... but he did it in game at the college level and did very well at it. )
