I've been a proponent of moving Barnett outside for a few years now but with this signing I see him playing in Buffalo.
We will still have a badass linebacker corps.

I think that Hawk will gladly re-work his deal.

Would you gladly take a pay cut, especially if it's for less money than you could get elsewhere? I'm sure Hawk doesn't think he's worth $10 million next season, but if the Packers try to get cute with him and lowball him, someone will pay the guy.

Perhaps they should just trade whichever one will bring more in trade?

Or we could just go with the younger guy with healthy knees and wrists like reason would dictate.

Yeah, I think we should keep Hawk no matter what. Try to trade Barnett, cut Poppinga, and then try to spread Hawks money over a few years as much as possible. In my opinion, Hawk has earned a good salary over the next couple of years with his play this season. Best bet would be to spread it out over a few years with the security of a long term deal. With Barnett gone, this should be more possible.

Hopefully Cullen Jenkins is next. Does anyone have a list of our other FAs?

I predicted that Desmond Bishop would not be on the 53 man roster. He was hurt and I figured he'd be dealt before the trading dead line.

ya I get that; sometimes I enjoy being wrong ... I was highly skeptical of the cm3 trade and here we are 2 years later with one of the best if not the best OLB in the NFL.

Judging from that list, we can lose a few free agents, but the guys available off of other teams are interesting candidates for replacement. Granted, Ted Thompson will never sign anybody, but hey, with a new collective bargaining agreement--who knows?
