The nice thing about that list is that only two of those players--Jenkins and Jones--are important to the team's success and will cost a lot to resign. Kuhn has become important, but as a fullback, I would expect that he can be signed for a reasonable price.

As for the ILB situation, I am with most people on this one. We know how good this defense can be with Bishop and Hawk in the middle, so let's hope they try to keep Hawk. It may not be easy, though, and if they can't keep him, Barnett would not be a bad consolation prize by any means. I've always liked Barnett a lot.

I actually think the opposite. Hawk makes everyone else better. He is a great leader and he is very unselfish. He takes on blocks purposely sometimes so that others can make the play instead of just going for the tackle and missing. You really cant ask for a much better ILB in a 3-4 defense.

Excellent point. I fully agree. I've been especially impressed with Hawk's pass coverage since Chillar went down. I think he's been as good as Chillar in pass coverage, making Chillar somewhat expendable (except for depth, of course).

I think it's highly possible. If the pay cut comes in the form of a new contract that pays him more than the average of Bishop's contract. Bish got ~$4.75M per year, so if Hawk is offered a contract that averages roughly $6M per year, I think he'd sign it in a heartbeat. I'd call that a win/win for Hawk and the Packers.

I chalk this up to wishful thinking, just like how fans were saying that if Dom Capers is offered a head coaching job, it would be in his best interests to decline it so he can continue as DC of the Packers. Yeah, right.

I agree that Hawk's contract will need to pay him more than Bishop's contract for him to stick around, but if he is offered more by another team than he is offered by the Packers, he will seriously consider it, at the very least. He would be foolish not to.

Yep. Actually, this is the first thing I thought when I read the title of the thread. And it wouldn't really make me sad after the way Hawk and especially Bishop have stepped up their game this season. Throw 'em into the fire and see what comes out! Sometimes that's the only way to really know. Fantastic news!

And I guess I was operating under the assumption that he wouldn't get more than ~$6M/yr elsewhere, or at least not very much more. Perhaps that's more wishful thinking. At any rate, I think the Packers will do what it takes to keep him around.

The beauty of it is that we already know how well Hawk and Bishop play together. They've been excellent.

The only thing about Barnett being the odd man out is hes at an all time low value wise. While you can definitely argue this has been Hawk's strongest season.
