The defense, as always, did not lose this game. They should keep doing what they are doing.
The Packers lost this game, because of all the dropped passes, Crosby's suckage and the refs.
Be real, how is that sack/fumble by Clay Mathews reversed? No F'n way. Plus, Mendenhall was out of bounds on that catch. The refs clearly had an agenda today, as they usually seem to for the Steelers.
But if we catch the ball successfully and make routine FGs, we beat the refs and the Superbowl Champs in their own house.

Anytime the offense racks up 36 points, and loses. I have a hard time saying it was not the defenses fault we lost.

Agreed. Plenty of blame all around.

The defense played balls out. It was the offense that was dropping passes throughout the first half, and the special teams that missed an easy FG.
Fix those situations, and we beat the refs AND the Superbowl Champs, at their house.

I'm sorry but allowing 503 yards passing is not "balls out". That being said, we played a team w/ seriously wounded pride, in their house, and lost by 1 point on the last play of the game. Yes there were some questionable calls by the refs, yes our O dropped some balls but it was a high scoring game that we lost BY 1 POINT. We have 3 members of our secondary on IR. Big Ben IS one hell of a QB and our place kicker has absolutely NO confidence right now ( he almost missed 2 PAT's remember). We lost the game but that's football, I'm not losing any sleep over this one.

many great posts by Dinugs, Zero, British.

However, no need to blame refs. Was that a fumble by CM3? Of course, but within about a minute or two, the packers had moved right back to that part of the field with the D.D. reception, and with so much time to go in the game, it had very little impact.

And yes there were dropped balls, crosby sucked, and although I like our defense and the strides they've made, and the steelers played a hell of a game, but the game came down to them stopping the steelers from marching ~80 yards in 2 minutes. A championship caliber football team should expect their defense to rise to that occassion, and they were unable to today. Tons of upside to this defense, but they were the reason the pack lost.

I saw somewhere that he was blamed for not playing the underneath coverage like he should have.

Ridiculous statement, if you ask me, since there was not a single guy in the area to defend over the top.

Only good thing that comes from this, is that Bell did play some very decent football on that last drive. Yes, he got victimized on that last play, but 80% of the corners in the league would've.

I'll have to test if this image works...but anyway...sometimes the offense just makes a great play. I've never played DB so please point out the error of my assumptions, but what else could we have expected bell to do here?

Bell himself admitted he could have scooped into the receiver's basket, pushed the receiver out of bounds, or lifted one of the receivers legs to ensure he didn't get both feet down.

He had his hand in there, he was just off by inches. He certainly couldn't have lifted his legs up there.

good pic rockmolder...it was a great throw/catch, and although a tough play, possibly one Bell could have broken up. He was in position to make that play, and that's my point.

I don't love the prevent, but what I keep saying is the players had opportunities to end that game. Cullen's missed sack, the int called back by penalty, and a near break-up on the final TD.

On a play like that he should have defended with his other hand, and used the inside hand to push the reciever out of bounds, that is taught in high school.
God didn't create Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers created God.
