How do you guys explain Chad Clifton then? 2nd round pick, starter from day 1. Ross Verba came in and started as a rookie too.

It can happen, just not likely.

The safe play is putting Lang at RT because I think he would only continue to improve and he was pretty decent over there but I really would like to see them move him to guard.

I think he would be a stud at guard and with Sitton and Spitz along with him the interior of the line would be very stout.

I don't see Lang as a long term LT. I think we do need to go there in the first round even though they may not be ready to step in week one.

Your LT needs to be one of the best players on the team. With all the guys we need to resign I can't see FA solving it so we need to invest over there.

From what I've been reading, though, this kid could be quite a project on the pass blocking side. Something I don't like to see in a LT. As a guard, though, I don't see why you wouldn't go with a high potential kid in the 5th. Sounds like a Ted Thompson pick to me.

As I said in the thread opener I'm no expert.

But I've read that his arm length is a little short for a prototypical LT.

And maybe he doesn't have ideal size or overall athelticism to perform in space - but those two are guesses.

British.. this isn't directed towards anyone in particular.. but other than prototypical height.. I don't see another weakness.. especially after watching him at this level.

My point here is that technique wise, I see no glaring weakness.. needs polish.

I really want someone to find and explain what I am missing in the kid.

With that said.. if you get a blue chip prospect sitting on the draft board staring you in the face next season.. take him.. but I wouldn't reach for one with Lang on the roster. I am convinced after studying Lang after the draft.. Lang could line up anywhere on the line.

I honestly don't know the knock on Lang then.

With fewer free agents and no top 20 draft pick Lang could be our starter there next season by default.

I suspect we'll not know until training camp. They'll let draft picks, Barbre, Lang and Clifton (if he's back) duke it out for LT and Breno, Tausch and Lang battle for RT and see who wins.
