Well, I'm happy we won, don't get me wrong. Except it's a bittersweet victory as we lost 2 Pro Bowlers for the season.

The thing is, WHO are we? Are we a Playoff caliber team?

Green and gold lenses aside, I think we are. Take a good look at our team. These are our Pro Bowlers - Driver, Woody, Harris, Kampy, Collins. Our QB is arguably the 3rd best in the NFC.

I've been down on Grant earlier this year because my expectations for him are so high. It's like if you have two kids, one ends up in the Gifted program and the other one is "normal." As much as you try not to, you're going to have higher expectations for the one who rated Gifted. Grant can be a top 10 RB as we saw in 2007.

Then we have Greg Jennings. Although never a Pro Bowler, in fantasy production he was #12 in '07 and #4 in '08. That's pretty dang good. Finley is pretty dang good as well.

On the defensive side, Barnett is solid. I love Cullen Jenkins. I already named our Pro Bowlers. All around, it's a solid team.

I want us to go deep in the Playoffs this year because I have expectations that we have the team to do it. What is preventing us from a deep Playoff run?

1) Morale. I don't think MM is a Mike Ditka type of guy. Heck, even Singletary is significantly better than MM at pumping up a team. He gets a team that lacks in talent compared to ours thinking they're a Playoff caliber team.

2) Playcalling. MM gets soft once he gets his opponents against the ropes. He needs to finish them.

3) Adjustments. Sometimes MM makes good adjustments. Sometimes he doesn't. He's kind of erratic when it comes to adjusting.

So in summary, I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer. It's just I have high expectations for this team. Maybe it's my fault thinking the Packers are better than we really are. Maybe I'm a Mike Singletary.

When the plays are not ececuted to success, it is bad playcalling and McCarthey should be fired. When the same plays are executed and successful, the the playcalling is better and Mac gets to stick around.

I get it. It is McCarthy after all that is executing the plays, missing the blocks, blitz reads, etc. I get it.

It is my opinion that some plays, while not exaclty what I would call ideal, are called simply to set up a play later. most of you will say the pass to Jennings was a great call. My uneducated guess is that another play earlier (successful or not) set up that play.

Fire his ass!

I get it..

Right. I'm sure Pittsburgh and Cincinnati were thinking the same thing this past weekend. Anything can happen in the NFL. For divisional games, it's even more unpredictable.

I don't believe I saw any post besides yours suggesting even in saracasm that MM job is at risk.
But let's face facts execution aside this team is Jeckyl and Hyde half to half. Take the Minnesota games, Tampa, San Fran,
The only games the have been consistant in were detroit Cleveland. This speaks to the fact that this team is emotionally up and down
I am therefor I think.

Mcarthy didn't go into a shell or anything like that and to suggest he was riding the lead is not accurate. Three times in the second half we were moving the ball and there was a sack, an intentional grounding, and a hold on Wells after a very nice run and all three messed up drives when we were on the move.

I agree with Greg C. the 49'rs made some plays in the second half and whoever is saying they can't play or are a lousy team forgets they had the Vikings whipped in the Metrodome. Beat. IMO they are certainly better than bad.

I don't know about some here but I just want a W on Thursday. I don't care how we get it and how badly we beat them the last time means nothing to me. Just win.

Then we have 10 days to get ready for Baltimore.

i never remotely suggested or hinted at the idea that mccarthy should be fired. i simply don't necessarily agree with the way he goes into a shell when we take what appears to be a commanding lead.

maybe it's the killer instinct in me but i enjoy a coach who puts the other team away completely, with malice. dang i'm a mean biotch, aren't i?? lol.

Fire his ass... Fire the whole damn coaching staff.

Bring in a new staff right now!

This team is 6-4 Will be 7-4 on Thursday.

Right after Thanksgiving is the perfect time for a complete house cleaning.. The new staff will have and extra three days of preparation before the next game to turn this thing around.

It is disgusting. Part of the blame has to go on Aaron, Donald Driver. and Jennings as well. They have the responsibility to score more often in the second half. Get rid of them too. Start with Aaron. Cut his ass on the same day they fire Mike. He has always been a Mike McCarthy. type of guy. Makes me sick.

6-4 Freaking sick....

Something I didn't get around to saying in my earlier post (I was kind of annoyed when I wrote it) is that it is common in the NFL for a team to run up a big lead in the first half and then struggle to hold it in the second half. People often say that championship-caliber teams don't allow that to happen, but that's not true. Sometimes they do. The Vikings are one of the best teams in the league this year and they let the Packers sneak back into both of those games. But there never appeared to be much of a chance that the Packers would actually win. I felt the same way about the 49ers yesterday.
