Ryan Grant has a 4.2 ypc average. I don't know about you guys but I was pretty surprised by that. I was under the impression that he was averaging just over 3 ypc this entire season. Just kind of snuck up on me, I guess.

Yet Ryan Grant was the source of all our running problems? Sheyaaaaaaa!

Dude has been running hard for most of the season.. he isn't elusive but he is the battering ram type. What I would give for a pure speed back with some elusiveness to pair with him to use later in the game.. yesterday we had that defense gassed towards the end of the 3rd quarter.. a speed back would have tore that Cowboy defense apart.

He's definitely looked better this year. Is it the offensive line or him not having injury issues? Don't know. It's good to see him busting free into the secondary again.

Now all that's missing are his 50+ runs and catching a basic screen pass.

because he hasn't really been that consistent so it's not really noticeable. He has only gone over 4.0 ypc in 4 games so far.

Absolutely the offensive line. He's not a top teir back but very very good with a strong oline. If we weren't stuck in so many 2nd and 15's I'm sure he'd have a lot more yards. He's in the top 10 regardless.

Much like the 1200 last year. He would be much higher if we were winning more with cleanup duty.

I agree. I'm not too crazy about our approach to the RB position. Grant is a serviceable #1 back, but you want both - speed, and power. Heck, even to give your #1 a breather. Look at how Chester Taylor makes AP's job so much easier. Or another example - look at Sprowles, how much he means to LT.

We could use a good #2 back. I was hoping Green would fill that role for this year. We may actually see a lot more of Green as the year progresses.

Grant has had a nice season. I have so many facepalm moments when people go after him. That is soooooooo 2008. Our line play has been worse this season (including in the run blocking) and he's had better production. If you can give him a crease he's a solid running back.

He's not Chris Johnson good. He'll never do the things AP does. I'm okay with that. I want a guy who wants to carry the load, and say what you will about Grant but he really is that guy. He wants to carry it as many times as possible, and as the statistics suggest he gets better and better with more carries as a game wears on.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I understand Grant can run the ball like a "battering ram" but that seems to be all he knows how to do. He also can't catch a pass for his life. I like the guy but I don't think he's the future at RB. He's just a serviceable option.

Ahman is averaging 5.0 ypc in limited duty so far, and has caught a few passes. Brandon Jackson averaged 5.5 last year, and was an effetive receiver with 30 catches. Not too shabby, kinda like how Grant is not too shabby for a starter. We just don't have anyone exceptional.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season

wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
