I still say he goes down too easy, but I'll take 1300 yards in this offense every year and STFU about it.

The fumbling thing is a very big plus. What Grant does not possess is the explosiveness that AP has, so one has to weigh out how many negative yards is a lost fumble worth.

It may seem like that but stats say otherwise. Ryan Grant has 537 yards after contacted by a defender. That is good for 7th in the league. He also had 19 missed tackles which is tied for 8th in the league.

Ryan Grant is finally showing heart when he runs now. Also, our O Line has had improvements lately. As long as he runs hard and hits the hole hard then we should be good.

Only time I like grant running is if they run him to the outside. And MM seems to never do that. MM likes running him up the middle into a wall of 10 guys.

grant practically trips over his own feet when he runs up the middle and tackles himself.

This isn't even a little bit true. Since the third week of the season, against the Rams, McCarthy has consistently been mixing screens and tosses into his play calling.

By the way, that "wall of 10 guys" has largely been due to our horrible O-line play this year which seems to be getting better every week, resulting in some really nice straight ahead, one cut runs from Grant.

Now granted I havnt watched the last 2 games ... ok maybe the 2 games before grant wasnt stuffed up the middle but the first 1/2 of the season we saw 75% run up the middle for little gain.

I was in the chat room for most of these games and me and nonstop (I think) kept complaining week after week about this.

I won't argue that much of the time this season the running game has been very frustrating to watch, but to say McCarthy never runs it outside is just wrong. I think he does a pretty good job mixing in outside runs with the up the gut 3 yard stuff. Even with the frustrating running game Grant has a respectable 4.3 yards per carry through 12 games. It ain't flashy but it's working. Most of all, we need the running game (even the boring stuff) to open up the passing game for Rodgers.

edit: Additionally. I do wish I had a break down of outside/inside runs, if not the actual call at least an analysis of where Grant has run on each play.

Still, I agree with you about nothing flashy but it works. Weird. I was complaining about Grant earlier in the season but now he's growing on me.

Semantics. Either way, we need to keep opposing defenses honest or, as we have seen, they will exploit our O-line and literally murder our beloved Mr. Rodgers.
