Cutting back his play eh.. after two years of seeing regressing play they finally make an adjustment. Consistent average player.. maybe this is a wake up or roll out type of call.

I'm so glad we have this problem of having so much potential/talent at LB's. IMO, this problem is a good one.

Read the article, it says if The Packers are going to continue not using there base defense much, they are going to figure a way to get Hawk on the field.

That's ok, Hawk hasn't achieved that all pro status that he was suppose to, so he is definately a bust.

To bad Hawk couldn't have went to the pro-bowl with Barnett....oh wait he never went nevermind.

Well Chillar and Poppinga had to have gone.....guess not.

CUT HIS ASS NOW, IT HAS BECOME QUITE CLEAR HE CAN'T PLAY!!!!

YOU SCREWED UP TED, ADMIT IT AND MOVE ON.

Last year the defensive coaches were to blame for your screwups, this year you can point to AJ Hawk as the reason for sub-par team play, next year, there will be someone else to blame.

The only real BUST IMHO is Ted Thompson!!!!!

He drafts these guys, he hires the HC, he is the one who makes the decisions, obviously since The Packers can't play :500 or better football after 4+ years, THEN TED THOMPSON IS THE REAL BUST OF THIS TEAM!!!!

Ted save us all the anxiety, resign now, so The Packers can get back to winning.

lol ouch ... He was drafted in '06 with the 5th overall pick. They had to give their investment a worthwhile opportunity to succeed. 1st year was good. 2nd year he racked up lots of tackles. 3rd year he was playing with injuries. And without seeing improvement they did what should be done. Limit his time.

I'm not saying it's not deserving, just saying that the wording "after two years of seeing regressing play they finally make an adjustment" is a bit strong for a guy entering only his 4th season. There's a lot o LB'ers worse than Hawk, and granted just as many who are better.

Not you Pak93z, but I think some are holding against Hawk because he was picked 5th overall and isn't winning weekly NFC defensive player of the week awards.

When Hawk was drafted, the jury was out on him. He wasn't going to be a superstar, but rather a solid LB who would do what was asked of him. Problem is, that's ALL he does and sometimes misses. As one coach said, he needs to do more than just what is asked of him. I agree. Overachievers = winners.

He played well his rookie year.. started to slump the 07' season.. and last year was more of the same.. tentative reactionary play.. but he is assignment sure and rarely makes a mistake. He started last season with intensity and fizzled from October on..

Solid player.. I have said that since about Oct 07.. just doesn't play with his instincts that he has in college.

Is the game to fast for him? Is the coaching staff (Winston Moss ) hampering his development? Is it his oxygen camber at the house?

Whatever it is, he isn't the attacking player he was in college. IMO, they should have pulled minutes from him last season.. something to invoke a little bit of urgency to pick up his game to the level it could be at.

I think letting him play hurt like they did was bad. Make him heal up and unleash him.

Buckeye.. I think this at the tail end says it all.. call it a hint. Albeit, I think they are talking Barnett up a little as well...

"Nick Barnett is finding ways to create production outside of his responsibility," Moss said.

"I think A.J. is extremely conscious on one, being right. It's important for him to execute. It's very important for him to be reliable. It's very important for him to take coaching and what we were asking him to do as a scheme and execute it on the field.

"But at some point in time, he has to tell himself, 'Well, I've done my job. Now throughout the course of a play, I'm going to have to do my job to find a way to make plays if they're not coming to me.' That would be his next point."

2006-Started all 16 games and led the team with 155 tackles (112 solo), second most ever recorded by a Packers rookie (Rich Wingo, 166 tackles in 1979), and led linebackers with 3 sacks

2007-Started all 16 games (plus both playoff contests) at WLB and finished second on the team with 129 tackles (81 solo), adding one sack, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble, one interception and four passes defensed
Played 92.2 percent of the defensive snaps

That's one hellof a drop off from year one to year 2. Ted should have realized he screwed up after the 2007 season and got rid of Hawk then.

Way to go Ted!!!

2008-Started every game for the third straight season, playing through chest and groin injuries
Had nine starts at weak-side linebacker and final seven at middle linebacker, where he replaced the injured Barnett
Led team with 121 tackles (84 solo)Led linebackers and was tied for second on the team with 3.0 sacks
On the field for 869-of-1,050 (82.8 percent) defensive plays, most among the teams linebackers

Yea he really dropped off in 2008!!!

Yep... all a figment of the imagination..

Again Solid Player.. but makes little impact around the line of scrimmage and plays like a Barnett junior.. makes tackles 3 to 7 yards past the line of scrimmage..

But carry on with the dramatics... no one is saying he "sucks".. never uttered that phrase in my days... could he play better, more aggressively and make impact hits.. you bet.

All I want is some of the OSU intensity he played with.. not this sitting on his heels (for Foster) and waiting for everything.

You notice the broken record type effect with this.. I knew I shouldn't have hopped into this thread.. some can't handle when players are criticized for play without taking it to the "he sucks" limit.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
