The only thing that made Brett great was Holmgren..

He had the tools but needed Mike to make them come out

I would disagree, Brett had and still has a drive and competitive nature that makes players great.. Brett owes Mike in some regards, but not anymore than Mike owes Brett for helping make him the household name he is as well.

Sometimes relationships just work out mutually beneficial for both parties.. this to me is an example of one.

Who took a vote to bench him and decided it wasnt right and went against the voters? Who sat Bret tdown and told him?

I am saying if it wasnt for that exact moment Brett wouldnt have been where he is right now

I will reword it.. Brett benefited from Mike.. no doubt.

Mike benefited from Brett.. again no doubt.

Your initial post seemed one sided.. which in my opinion it most certainly is not.

Your pissed at and/or have been hurt by Brett, we see that, just as we see others that are pissed at and/or hurt by Thompson.

I tend to be neutral and objective on the topic.. other than I was hoping this offseason wasn't mired in the same turmoil as last season. I got kicked in the nuts on that one..

We should've started with the TJ Rubley era in 1995.

We should've started with the TJ Rubley era in 1995.

After all these years.. that is still a kick below the belt.. never in all my years of watching football did I want to grab a player by the face mask, slam his ass to the ground and scream at him for what the *&$( he was thinking..

I think Wayne Simmons should have used him as a practice dummy the following week.. cutting his ass was to kind.

The packers last lost on Nov. 5 at Minnesota, due in part to third-string quarterback T.J. Rubley's inexplicably audibling out of a third-and-one quarterback sneak to a pass that was intercepted. That led to a game-winning field goal by the Vikings. Chalk it up to "the curse of Vince Lombardi" is all Green Bay coach Mike Holmgren could say afterward to general manager Ron Wolf. Who could blame Holmgren and Wolf if they half believed that the patron saint of Packerland was not smiling upon them? Their luck has been that bad.

I am off base.. fine. I apologize..

But your argument is completely speculative... you of all people wanting facts to back everything stated as fact to have concrete proof.

So prove your one-sided statement.. I want links to an alternate universe where you can prove that the benching made Brett the player he was.. I want a concrete link to the future without said benching since...

The only thing that made Brett great was Holmgren..

My point is your words were framed in a way that makes it appear that Holmgren is the "only" reason Brett became a HOF QB... and I disagree with saying that it is a mutually beneficial relationship.. neither "made" the other.. they together made things happen.

So I made an assumption... my bad.. carry on.

1st, yeah my wording was wrong so I apologize...I see how it confused people.

I would think that people would know it was my opinion so I'll clarify why I thought that........Even tho opinions can't be proven?

I read these parts in the article you posted..

Mike told Brett

I will not hesitate to pull you if we're losing games with the same mistakes we made last year.

So since Brett didn't take that warning to heart the 1st time and was still making the same mistakes, chances are he was going to keep making them..

So then Mike had the vote, knew everyone wanted Mark to be q/b, but he tried one last time cuz he saw the awesome part of Brett when lot others didnt.

So when he said

We're joined at the hip, either we're going to the Super Bowl together, or we're going down together

Something must have went off in Brett and MADE him realize how serious or how confident Mike was in him..

What went off I dont know but something did..

Then we have this after that talk

In the 41 regular-season games since, the Packers are 30-11. Favre has thrown 101 touchdown passes and only 33 interceptions.

I agree 1000% with they both needed ecah other in order to get where they got, no doubt about that....

but again with out that talk with Brett, I dont think it would have ever got to that point

I am talking about one minute out of their lives..not the entire body of work between the two, maybe your misunderstanding?

Ahhh... understood.. in reading your first post... "the only reason" barked out loudly and made it sound more like fact than opinion.

Yes I think Brett greatly benefited from Mike's stern nature.. from everything we now about Irv.. it is funny that Irv recommended Mike backing down some..

Opinions can't be proven, but they can be substantiated with a little effort for those of who do not grasp your opinion.
