70+ yards doesn't happen if the defense does their job.

Indiana was over matched at the LOS and were running at will even with them loading the box.. so the Badgers, even though completely burying them with the run, now PA passes it with a go route with what a 50+ lead.

No need to embarrass the over matched team like that. IMO of course.

It wasn't a play action and it was 3rd and 6. We didn't try to fake them out it was a pass play the entire way in a likely passing down when we had clearly been trying to convert every first down, by passing or running. We had a freshman backup quarterback in throwing to a freshman receiver who has just recently broken into the team. Why not see if your freshman quarterback can throw the ball or if your freshman receiver can go up and get a ball?

Besides, we ran it most of the second half. By the end of the game we had our third string quarterback in and a fourth string freshman running back in. We weren't running trick plays.

Also, style points matter in college football. As it stands right now Wisconsin is one rank above Ohio State in the BCS and if Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State finish tied next week at 11-1 the highest BCS ranked team goes. Wisconsin can't afford to play a close game, they have to completely and utterly destroy teams to ensure they stay ahead of Ohio State.

If Wisconsin is in the same scenario next week with Northwestern I hope they put them to the sword. I will be damned if Wisconsin ends up not going to the Rose Bowl thanks to a BCS tiebreaker and Bielema worrying about the feelings of the team on the other sideline.

edit: video of the pass play in question

http://espn.go.com/ncf/video?gameId=303170275

edit 2: Also, with regards to running it every play but one in the second half against Michigan. That was not a matter of letting them off. They couldn't stop the run and we needed to keep their offense off the field. They showed with the two quick scores in the 3rd quarter that once they started to execute they were an offense that could move the ball easily. They couldn't stop the run and it kept their offense off the field and we held on to win.

70 to 24 or 83 to 24 ... one score spares embarrassment over the other? I don't think so.

Sorry, I think kids should play and have fun, not lay down because they are better.

Big lead, bench the starters, let the backups have their fun. They need the experience personally and football wise. I'm sure the backups are taught differently, meaning, they should play half ass instead of giving it there all.

I never once in my entire life had a coach for baseball, wrestling, football or anything tell me to not give it my all because we were better than the other team or we had an insurmountable lead. It contradicts what is preached, embedded and taught on a daily basis to athletes.

Bad sportsmanship ...unreal ... just what this world needs, more flooping labels for those who can't handle a GAME.

I don't know. I must be missing something here.

I stand corrected on my memory of the play.. I swore it was play action.

Either way.. didn't like the play call. Just little need for it.

And the style points.. that is the point.. the BCS is a bad method for establishing the best in the game, because it invokes this type of plays.

beast (8-Jan) : Guys that have a good shot at making the NFL Hall of Fame usually get into their teams pretty fast
beast (8-Jan) : Yeah, but is Kampman and the others in the NFL Hall of Fame?
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Johnson was Hall of Fame, 2020. Should haev been in Ring a year later, not three years.
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : I could be wrong there though

Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : I guess I see players in Packers Hall come way later
beast (8-Jan) : Yeah, usually teams hall of fames are a much lower bar than the NFL
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : is it uncommon for Hall before Ring?
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : S Xavier McKinney named first-team All-Pro by NFLPA
beast (8-Jan) : I missed it, sorry, but he got into the NFL Hall of Fame years before that
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Jones took his sweet ole time!
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Yeah, he's in the ring of honor, just saw video and his name is up there
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Didn't they have a thing in 2023 for Jimmy's ring of honor? I swear I saw it
beast (8-Jan) : Though if they're legitimately trying to re-sign MM, then it makes sense.
beast (8-Jan) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty
beast (8-Jan) : Cowboys denied Bears request
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : From what I'm reading, MM is under contract through the 14th of January; after that he's free game
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : McCarthy let go or not extended??
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Chicago Bears have asked the Dallas Cowboys permission to interview Mike McCarthy for head coaching vacancy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : The winners page that is

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Missed FG into a Lions TD; that'll do pig, that'll do
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : That might be it for the Vikings
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : how was that not a safety? Goff throws it at an offensive lineman
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero, I thought that was a given! ;)
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero I looked through earlier and noticed the same thing. Bonkers year. I just wonder if beast put any money on games
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : I'm hoping for BLOODBATH. Pummel one another.
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : 8 people in pick'em would have won any year with their total lol
