I am sure Beast will correct me here, but our offense, like SF, is based on a (wide) zone blocking scheme. Everything is set up off this scheme....play action, screens, and pass blocking.
You can't simply change schemes mid season, you need to get players who can effectively play within your system.
Clearly, we do not have the OLine that can excel or succeed in the system.
Moreover, we cannot pick up a 3rd & 1 or 4th and 1 to save our souls because we just don't have any road grader Olinemen.
This is on Gutey and the player personnel team.

I think the harder part of adding players is learning the different terminology, and chemistry a d things to that effect, though every player is different, such as supposedly QB Chad Pennington went to the Dolphins and learned the entire playbook in less than a week. But most can't do that.
But absolutely yes, the wide zone scheme.e generally takes pressure off of the QB... but pressure doesn't just go away, it's just shared with more players, usually the RB and OL.
That being said, I'm not sure this OL can do well in any scheme, just not talented enough.
Our guards have been hurt since the Detroit game.

The more I hear the more it seems scheme is miminal. It's like defense 3-4 base but teams rarely use base relatively to sub packages. Offenses aren't much different. And clearly what they're doing isn't working so why not try something different? I'm not being insane here by saying out our LG coming off ACL to RT. I'm not saying out a stud permiter CB inside. Im saying instead of whatever blocking scheme they've trotted out there, maybe try a scheme where you just get in the defenders way rather than just watch the guy walk around ya.
I'm just asking for some effort rather than the same ramble ramble every week with the same failures over and over again. If you got a headache, stop hitting your head against the wall.
I'm not saying go from West Coast offense to Run n Gun from top to bottom. I'm saying find something SIMPLE that the guys can execute and build off it.
Something. Anything. Teams change/modify schemes all the time. Hell, 2010 Packers defense did half way through the season!! It can be done. It has been done.

Meaning that just because they want the scheme one way, they still run lots of other stuff (going to your sub packages point).
Also to your point, has anyone been seeing some simple slant patterns? If you run it right, guys should be able to occasionally pick up extremely easy 5 yards, either to get a first down OR turn 1st and 10 into 2nd and 5.
