I've seen people call for Joe Barry's job, a few for Matt LaFleaur's job, but what about Brian Gutekunst?

I feel like Gute has done a good job spreading the different draft picks around, but also like there are certain positions that have just dropped the ball.

On the OL, there is Bakhtiari and Jenkins whom got big contracts and haven't yet lived up to them. Maybe you need to give him a pass, as injuries weren't predictable at the time.

But then 2nd for Meyers, 3rd for Rhyan, 4th for Newman.

Musgrave looks like he has great potential, but 3rds for Sternberger, Dugara and Kraft (which Kraft is still a rookie, so give him a bit of a pass... but the best thing I've seen from him was his time in the Beer Olympics with Bakhtiari, in what I assume was a different state).

Other than Jenkins, Tom and Musgrave, has any of the top 4 round selections made by Gute worked out at OL, DL or TE?

Jenkins was a selection made with some inside knowledge as Luke Getsy was his Offensive Coordinator for a year in college before he returned to the Packers.

Edit: Edited to note that the Sean Rhyan selection, like the Jenkins selection, was done with some inside knowledge. As the Packers had recently hired Ramsen Golpashin to the offensive quality control coach position. Golpashin had worked for UCLA from 2018-21 (mixing his time between OL and DL, but his years the about same time as Rhyan at the school).

Tom might of been pure luck, I know I was saying he might be the next Bakhtiari before his draft, but the Packers selected Rhyan first and have claimed they scouted both as interior OL. So they thought Rhyan would be better.

Musgrave is basically a WR and the Packers have scouted WR pretty well. And maybe they should scout most TEs as WRs to improve what they get.

But those positions that block or get blocked, (other than Egge Rusher) Gute has done pretty horrible with his top selections and has used a lot of selections there.

The Packers NEED to improve their OL, DL, TE/FBs draft scouting.

I've read he's doing a pretty good job relative to other GM's picking in similar spots. And I tend to agree.

There aren't many OL that can survive losing LT, LG and having your RT dinged up. Then the RG hurts his ankle. When your most healthy guy is Josh Myers.. 😬

Our OC was good with OL. He should focus on that again and let LaFleur get his own coffee.

I don't think Gutekunst should be on the hot seat any more than anyone else on the staff.

This team just can't handle physical opponents. I've said it before. They lack the testicular fortitude to man up.

If we're thinking about hot seat. I would say my hot seat list in order goes as follows.

Matt LaFleur - he's been HC for too long to continue the same mistakes as shown in year one
Luke Butkus - OL is terrible
Adam Stenavich - OC execution is terrible
Jerry Montomery - Your job is stopping the run. You are a weak link
Joe Barry - go back to year one teaching form tackling
Rich Biscaccia - your unit is shitting the bed
Chris Gizzi - hamstrings
Thadeus Jackson - hamstrings
Mark Lovat - hamstrings
Grante Thorne - hamstrings
Brian Gutekunst - you should have tried harder to land Jonathan Taylor
Russ Ball - you inked up that David Bakhtiari contract

Gute is the last person who should be kn the hot seat. He has brought us talent to both sides of the ball. Its the coaches who cant utilize them correctly (MLF and Barry)

MLF should of been gone after the 2021 niner loss.

Thing is, he gets so many quality prospects for low draft picks, udfas and free agents that he more than makes up for it, imo.

As for Matt I do think he's the right guy for the job. Might be the best X's and O's guy out there. It's just there's a human element that he doesn't get. Waiting for that light to go on.

Certainly not linemen.

Luke Musgrave is listed as TE, so he counts as a TE. Doesn't change the point at all though.

Meyers is a whiff that I took for granted he'd just be another stalwart at Center. WRONG.
Royce Newman some say he was good rookie year, but maybe that was only because he was surrounded by better OL?
Rhyan was spoken highly by Bakhtiari in the offseason. But I think he was a 3rd round pick so I mean, yeah, likely a dud.

There has been a lot of Tweetering and radio show rambling about the Packers having a stout OL by those analytics and what not. Usually it's about pass protection.

Ask any OL and they will say they prefer to run block than pass block. They reason this because run block you dish out the damage but in pass block you kind of wait get to beat up. That makes me think when a team goes pass heavy they are hurting the OL play.

Didn't the Packers pass up on a Center from Wisconsin with a bonehead selection? I think the guy might have retired because of a back injury.

Edit, Tyler Biadasz is the guy -- I think. He's active, not retired. And Packers used their 4th round pick to move up in Round One of that draft by sending 1st Rd 30th over all plus 4th Rd 130th overall for 1st Rd 26th overall.

Ugh, 2021 draft wasn't better

Detroit's got us over thinking and doubting ourselves. Matt searching around for X and O type explanations.

It's not about any of that. Remember the 80s? We sucked shit. The Bears are like that now. But no matter how good they were, Packers always played them tough.

Because it was personal.

That lead to the Matt Suey late hit, the Walter Payton out of bounds play, etc until finally the Bears came in throwing all this hot shit SUPERBOWL SHUFFLE bullshit in out faces, and Charles Martin decided to shut McMahon's pie hole.

Only Detroit did it within the rules of the game.

That's what happened. They are Aaron's little gift to us while walking out the door. If you dont recall the bulletin board material Aaron gave them, go back and look.

We are not doing anything wrong. Our franchise is a winning franchise. It's just management needs to put that together. Gut check time. Let's figure it out before it happens again.

bboystyle (4h) : Robert Saleh has been added to GBs coaching staff. Now he can stick it to Rodgers when he wins an SB here!
dfosterf (6h) : Leave him alone. Stop cutting him. You have no plan.
dfosterf (6h) : Losing him could get ugly real quick. Don't need that bs right now
wpr (7h) : As bad as he can be he is better than most options and he has practiced with the kicker and holder. A street guy might get 36 hours.
wpr (7h) : You are correct Mucky. This process makes the most sense. If they mess around and PS Orzech they might lose him.
Mucky Tundra (8h) : You might have the right idea. Get Gute on the line, beast!
beast (8h) : Yeah, but we could of simply signed LS Orzech to the PS, and gotten 3 weeks of him there.
Mucky Tundra (8h) : Now you can get several game day elevations and sign him back to the active roster anytime in case of an injury
Mucky Tundra (8h) : By briefly adding him to the roster and cutting him, it gets around the season ending IR and you can stash him on the PS
Mucky Tundra (8h) : I believe either Ford needed to be added to the active roster or go on season ending IR
beast (8h) : I don't understand that dance, released Orzech to keep Ford, just so you can release Ford to re-sign Orzech
Mucky Tundra (8h) : DT Jonathon Ford released to make room for Orzech. Ford is expected to be signed to the PS
Mucky Tundra (8h) : As expected the Packers re-sign LS Matt Orzech
Zero2Cool (9h) : He spent the entire open portion of practice on the offensive side of the field.
Zero2Cool (9h) : Robert Saleh in the back watching the Packers offense at practice today.
dfosterf (13h) : I'm desperate too
dfosterf (13h) : Possibly very good for my fantasy team. ff equivalent of a street free agent. Definitly worth cutting a dst I had laying around
Zero2Cool (15h) : Chiefs are so desparate
beast (16h) : Rumor: Titans will be trading WR Hopkins to Chiefs
Mucky Tundra (23-Oct) : @fordm The 49ers’ healthiest receiver right now was shot in the chest two months ago.

Zero2Cool (22-Oct) : Rumors: The #Vikings and #Rams are in serious trade talks for QB Matthew Stafford, per @jacksettleman
packerfanoutwest (22-Oct) : I like the the Winter Warning Whites!
packerfanoutwest (22-Oct) : This was the first victory over a team with a winning record for the Packers.
wpr (22-Oct) : Isn't coffee a PES? Especially first thing in the morning.
Zero2Cool (22-Oct) : PED and PES ... guess they are different
beast (22-Oct) : I thought PED were a 4 game suspension. Also wonder if it's final or if he could still appeal it.
Zero2Cool (22-Oct) : Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is facing a two-game suspension for violating the NFL’s Performance-Enhancing
Mucky Tundra (22-Oct) : JK Scott with a booming 36 yard punt to give the Cards the ball at their own 27
Mucky Tundra (22-Oct) : Bucs shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers

Mucky Tundra (21-Oct) : beast, look at "Kicker, we need one. Still" thread. Zero has a post there explaining it
beast (21-Oct) : I wonder whom the emergency LS is
Mucky Tundra (21-Oct) : nevermind about the LS, just saw Zeros post
Mucky Tundra (21-Oct) : Got to work only to find there's no production! Woohoo!
Mucky Tundra (21-Oct) : Woah, who's our long snapper now?
Zero2Cool (21-Oct) : 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk suffered a season-ending knee injury
Zero2Cool (21-Oct) : DL Jonathan Ford off injured reserve/designated for return and released LS Matt Orzech
Zero2Cool (21-Oct) : DL Ford is back, LS is cut
Zero2Cool (21-Oct) : Oh, I know. I was going to include that but limited characters
Mucky Tundra (21-Oct) : *being

Zero2Cool (21-Oct) : I'm seeing lot of "smart" tweeter people being clueless
Zero2Cool (21-Oct) : Theres' lot of different rules/guidelines what not that go into it. not simple as pluck an move

Mucky Tundra (21-Oct) : Those both sound unappealing as a Sunday Night game tbh
