The bottom line, the schemes the Packers are currently running, on both sides of the ball, take off pressure from other position groups, and put more pressure on the linemen.
If the Packers are going to continue to run these schemes, then they can't continue to have their linemen be the weakness of the teams, and while Gute MIGHT have a good draft success rate overall, his draft success at linemen (and TE) needs to improve. That or stop drafting them and simply sign them as FAs.
PS: I believe the DL will look better simply because the OL they play will be worse mostly going forward. Based on PFF best OL grading, the Packers have 5 games against teams in the top 10 (or top 13 whichever way you want to look at it).
Packers have played 2 of those in their first 5 and lost both games. But only 3 more the rest of the 13 games (Lions, Chiefs and Buccaneers).
Note: Broncos, Chargers and Raiders are 14, 15 and 16. After that would be Vikings at #22.
But if the Packers can bounce back with Raiders and Broncos, then they'll be in good shape this year, but they need to improve for better OL in the future.
