I don't like the idea of mortgaging the future. Especially for a guy who made such a big deal about "one last run," and then took a shit.

The Packers have flexibility because they have the sixth-most cap space in 2023, $118.1 million. Only the Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans have more.

It's just spit balling. I'm sure the Packers already have a couple of different ideas of what they are going do, depending on what each player is willing to do.

Normally I'd be totally and completely against this, but 2023 is supposed to have a mega boost in cap due to new mega TV deals starting.

So potentially this could be a perfect year to lock guys into long term contracts as they're going to get a heck of a lot more expensive in the coming years, and what look like ridiculous deals might look average in the future, and what looks high now might look like a good deal.

Of course, you can't keep everyone, so we might be losing some, say maybe ILB Campbell, but the Rams have always let their
stud ILBers leave in this scheme, and they go elsewhere and don't live up to the contract, while Rams easily replace a the ILB with a mid round draft pick.

As ILB Campbell said, what is different about his play this year vs other years is that this scheme.jist asks him to be an ILB, while a lot of other schemes have expanded roles for ILBers, asking them to more in say coverage or other things.

The article is thought provoking, thanks for posting.

Some critiques:
• I not sure I would re-sign Kevin King and instead do something with Douglas
• No way are they going to pay for Z Smith and shouldn’t
• I would probably cut Turner loose unless he is view as the answer at RT (he isn’t)
• No way are they going to keep Crosby
• They need to try to keep De’Vondre Campbell

Go Packers!!!!

Kind of a random thought, but between Za'Darius Smith and David Bakhtiari that was almost $50 million against the cap for barely a full game this season, right?
