The complete story is the day Ted took over this team was 10-6 and as of Today it's 6-10. It's fact, set in stone.

Hahaha.. you're silly. How is that set in stone, if you're only factoring in the last year w/o him and the last year with him? If we go 11-5 this year he turned a 10-6 team into an 11-5 team. A year ago today he turned a 10-6 team into a 13-3 team. Two years from now it'll be different again. That's as un-set in stone as any measurement I can imagine.

By that logic, Landry should only be measured by his last year coaching the Cowboys, where he finished 3-13.

"MassPackersFan" wrote:

And add to that that he didn't get just a 6-10 team. He got a 6-10 team on the decline and in cap hell.

"dd80forever" wrote:

He actually got a 10-6 team. I'm glad we are not in the over exaggerated "cap hell" now and we are 6-10.

Do they give a Lombardi Trophy for that?

First of all, you choose to ignore the declining part which speaks volumes by itsself.

Second of all, the salary cap is in place so you can't go over it. So you can't spend more and get an unfair andvantage. Even easier. You have to stay under the maximum. I hope that makes it easier. He didn't win a Lombardi Trophy for it, but it was kind off necessary to deal with. Do you really think Sherman would've made it into a better record, had he been up in the GM spot? Or might have him being replaced by someone else have something to do with bad cap management etc?

Overstating Injuries..... We lost Ahman Green, Najeh Davenport, Tony Fisher, and Samkon Gado. Thats when we had to start Herron. That is 4 guys. Fisher came back however.

The problem is everytimes you are faced with something you can't answer you run off to technicalities.

I asked you a question.

What 4th string player was pressed in to action last year. Please tell me, oh wait you can't. Your argument is bogus.

Now, unlike you I can admit when I'm wrong. Herron didn't tecnically start for us my bad. He did however get the bulk of the carries.

In 1960, he became the first head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and stayed for 29 seasons (1960-88). The Cowboys got off to a rough start, recording an 0-11-1 record during their first season and 5 or fewer wins in each of their next four. Despite this early futility, in 1964 Landry was given a ten year extension by owner Clint Murchison. It would prove to be a wise move as Landry's hard work and determination paid off, and the Cowboys improved to a 7-7 record in 1965 then in 1966, they surprised the NFL by posting 10 wins and making it all the way to the NFL championship game. Dallas lost the game to Lombardi's Green Bay Packers, but this season was still a display of what lay ahead: A span of 20 winning seasons from 1966 to 1985.

Not necessarily a fair comparison unless you are saying that you are willing to give Ted Thompson an extension.

Yet more proof that success is built through continuity, as the Steelers have amply demonstrated over the past few decades.

All of you impatient people calling for Thompson's head . . . I will be laughing at you if our next GM spends our way into salary cap hell and a string of losing seasons.

I for one would never laugh if the Green Bay Packers put up a string of losing seasons. That's ridiculous. Like an elementary kid saying "I Told You So!!"

I'll say it again. I like Ted Thompson. However, I am starting to see others opinions more and more. Success is judged on wins and losses. At this point he has a losing record, and one good season. IF we don't get back to a good year next year, then we really need to take a look at things.

However, I do really think that we have the potential to be an above average team next year. We are just a few pieces away from possibly being a great team. I'm Just worried that these few pieces might be the ones that haunt us again this year. Only time will tell.

I said I would laugh AT the people who called for Thompson's head, not about the Packers having losing seasons. That would piss me off. But I'd be most pissed at the people who'd impetuously pressured for Thompson's firing, simply because "a losing seasons isn't acceptable in Green Bay," as if we're somehow immune from the vicissitudes that affect ALL teams. I think it's an idiotic argument.

Sheesh, Landry had 5 losing seasons before he went on his 20-season tear. Give the man some time.

I'm pretty sure lots of people are "giving him time." That's why lots of us have said this season is going to be very telling on where this team stands. If we have another bad season it very well might be time to examine things. Now, if we get back to playing good, disciplined football, then things are a lot different.

Lots of things such as the penalties, conservative play calling, quality of depth, etc, all ultimately fall on Ted Thompson . . . whether that's fair or not. It's just the way it is.

Landry is one example, but that's not going to be the norm. Again, that's like comparing defensive linemen to Reggie White. Often times extreme comparisons just aren't fair. If we have another losing season, when is enough enough? What is the time limit? I'm just curious.

We know there was no 4th or 5th on depth chart putting big time in..So YOUR RIGHT

3 HUGE pieces of the defense gone at same time last year, 05 didnt have anything NEAR that

You wont change my view and you wont change my view..

05 had lot less talent then 08..
