My biggest question was why didn't he develop more in college? Same with OT Spriggs and CB Jackson, which normally turns me off of guys, and I had that same concern with Gary in the draft. Though after the draft, some interview talked about his learning disabilities, and college full time probably can be distracting in that aspect.
But he clearly has the potential to be a young Z. Smith, those has a lot of little things to learn, and might not learn some of the interior DL stuff Z learned while the Ravens used him in the inside, but he's got more pure speed than Z. (I think), but can't turn the corner as well, but if he learns to use the speed, power and hand fight well, he can be become very very good.
I'm thinking the scheme calls for a versatile edge rusher, and that's where Preston comes in...
You can have Z and Gary on the field at the same time, but the offense clearly knowns they're both coming with physical pass rushers. Preston you can mix up a bit more. Plus just keep rotating them.
Gary gets to be the 3rd down pass rush specialist, some love that role.
