It takes a little while for draft picks to get up to speed and to excel in the NFL. A game or two doesn't make a career but Gary and Savage are starting to look better and with them improving the defense as a whole will improve too.

Green Bay's two first-rounders from 2019 appear to be reaching their potential, good timing for a defense that needs them down the stretch.

The Great Nick Collins took until year 3 to really ascend. His dad had cancer in year 2.

Donald Driver took maybe 5 years, or should I say, kept ascending for 5 years. He came in with Charles Lee and Corey Bradford. Unlike them, he kept taking further steps.

All drafts are a crap shoot.
You never know for sure who will pan out until they are on the field for an extended time.
College great doesn’t always end up as NFL great. And late picks that you don’t expect much from, sometimes end up being special.

One opinion frim one source (even ESPN) is not everyone's truth and should not be required that way.

A 1st round draft pick may not be a ready made starter, however they should present more than just physical strength or speed. The true measure of a player rest between their ears. Players don't even get a tryout in the NFL unless they are strong and fast (unless maybe your a Kicker/Punter).

IMO, Rashan Gary"s training has not elevated his mental skills and that was where he fails. He either does not see his advantages quickly enough to react and beat his opponent or he sees not his advantages/disadvantages at all. Lots of fellows are nice guys and yet they still "slow:. I'd try to unload him if possible following the season and move on.

D. Savage has never really impressed me and too could be used as trade bait.

Smokey,

You and I are both impatient people. We demand immediate performance especially in top 3 rounds.

I can remember this second round draft pick they had a wide out a number of years back. The friggin guy seemed to drop every other pass thrown to him and made bad reads, running the wrong pattern...in short HE SUCKED.

I screamed at the TV "Cut the guy!!! Are you blind!!" But the 'idiots' stuck with him for some unknown reason

The guy's name was Davante Adams

on THAT one....I actually did need to eat crow.

I'll almost always give a guy 2 or 3 years before wanting him gone. Names that come to mind that I didn't wanna see anymore were Ahmad Carrol and Jamal Reynolds. I don't think I gave those guys more than a half season before losing hope. I think the player I kept the dream hope alive too long was Justin Harrell. He just couldn't get healthy, let alone stay healthy.

Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : Too bad camera's can't spot the ball as well.
Mucky Tundra (1-Apr) : So will the chain gang be gone completely or will they still be around as a backup or whatever?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : The method for measuring first downs in the NFL will switch from chain gangs to camera-based technology in 2025, the league announced.
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : A big step in the right direction. Just put in the college system is very very good.
