Next, go with Adams the WR1, move Montgomery to WR3 (the slot receiver) and if BG can get Allen Robinson foe the WR2 then GB will have sweet starting WR core. Cobb can be traded as necessary to get Robinson or in a deal to get an above average CB.

Adams (WR1), Graham(TE), Montgomery(WR3), and Robinson(WR2)

I wonder if they might think about having Monty as an outside WR (or Cobb as outside WR with Monty in the slot). Or what their plan is for outside WR.

I guess I just don't understand, why Cobb over Nelson?
With Rodgers at QB, Nelson kept getting 1,200+ yard seasons... while Cobb hasn't gotten 830 yards since 2014. Also the Packers lack outside WR depth... and Nelson can play outside WR (he might be a #2, but he can still play it well)... where Cobb is more of a slot guy and they now have Graham and Monty who can also play the slot.

I'll just have to wait and see... I thought Cobb would be released first. I guess I was wrong.

Maybe Gute was just waiting for the market to set itself. Offer Cobb a three year extension worth 8-9 million a year with a 4 or 5 million reduction in cap hit this season and I'd be happy with it. I'm not sure Cobb would take it but in that case if I were the Packers I'd keep him around for another year. After seeing what others got his numbers don't seem quite as bad as they did a day ago.

Just sayin'

Nelson's 10 years with the Packers was historically productive. He caught 550 passes to rank third in franchise history. His 7848 yards placed him fifth, his 69 touchdowns ranked only behind legendary Don Hutson and his 25, 100 yard games was third most.

Nelson produced three seasons of at least 1250 yards and 13 touchdowns and in NFL history, only Jerry Rice (6), Randy Moss (5) and Terrell Owens (4) can say that.

If that's true though it sounds like he may be the next out the door when we need a bit more cash

Especially if it frees up cap room to sign a CB etc.

Cobb can hit the road if he doesn't want to restructure. I wouldn't blame him anyway. It's time to be new.

Look at how many WRs Rodgers has “made”?
James Jones, and Greg Jennings to name two. When they left here, what did they do? Pretty much nothing.
So if we have decent WRs, and Rodgers gets decent protection, he can turn them into great WRs.
And with the addition of our 2 RBs, Jones and Williams, we could have one heck of an offense, even without Nelson.

Now that Vic is not tied to Packers.com, he's started being more up-front and honest. He knows we need to get younger and faster at WR. The whole league knows.

D.J. Chark, WR, LSU 6'2 199lb 4.34 spd
Simmie Cobbs Jr Indiana 6'3 220lb 4.64 spd (he's faster than this, watch him run a 4.5 at his pro day)
Courtland Sutton*, WR, SMU 6'4 218lb 4.54 spd (probably gone before our 2nd round pick)

Later in free agency the Packers can sign a bargain WR free agent and/or draft another late rounder for competition.

When he left here, never heard from again.
Coincidence? Don’t think so.
And Zero already told you about Jones, and I couldn’t have said it better.

I've never rated Cobb as a true starting WR. He has flashed some times and been celebrated for it, but he has not been reliable (getting open or catching balls). I'd like to see him packaged and traded for maybe a CB or another WR.

Also, I'd like to see Geronimo Allison get more of a chance to show that he can be a starter. Move Montgomery to the Slot WR position.

So far, GB has acquired a QB, a TE, and a DE. It demonstrates that BG is stepping up and addressing the Packers greatest needs. The next and perhaps one of the most urgent needs is at the CB position.
