I know it's frustrating for a lot of fans to watch their teams sit on the sidelines of free agency for the most part, but time and time again it proves to be the best strategy - albeit a bit boring. Maybe I'm just used to it as a fan of the Twins.

While I agree we don't have to chase the biggest names in free agency each year.. the teams that model long time success utilize free agency as a tool to fill holes effectively.. not the ones that open the bank account up yearly.

I mirror your opinion of the types of additions that could be made.. players that snap into the franchise.. might not be the biggest or the best money can buy.. but they are effective.

Key.. find guys that can play at a high level and are consistently at said level..

If we sign Haynesworth for example.. I wouldn't be completely over joyed.. he will command too much of a bank roll in these times (economic and CBA turmoil).. it is too heavy of a risk.. but I hope they target a few depth to starter type FA with chewable salaries in case things turn sour.

I think they will be more activity in Green Bay this FA season.. just not in the marque names.. at least I hope. The credit market is tough right now.. leveraging the franchise with guaranteed money is too risky.

As far as the people gone hell we could have a full new team next year noone ever knows.

dation.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I really believe that if you run this exact same team out on the field next year, they win 11 games. I'd bet a month's pay on double digit victories.

.

"dhazer" wrote:

I would take that bet lol. Its not like we have a gravy schedule next year. We don't have that great of a team.

"mattresell" wrote:

How the hell do you know who's going to be tough and whos not when speaking on our schedule. They freaking 08 season isn't even over with! There's been NO draft for next year, NO free agent moves, NOTHING. Yet you throw some cockeyed comment about 'not like we have a gravy schedule next year'. Damn, at least let two preseason games fly by before you start making absurd comments like that.

What else would he say? He's not going to come out and say they sucked, it was his fault, and he should be fired. Every GM says the same thing right up to the moment they get axed. That's just part of the job description. The team may have felt like they were better than their record, but so what? Every team that doesn't win the title feels that way. You'll probably find Lions that don't think they were as bad as 0-16, but that doesn't change the fact they were that bad. We were 6-10. Improvements have to be made. Period.

Plain and simple i want some damn changes made and as a owner of the team i should have a say in it lol.
Ted Thompson better do something or if we have another bad year with the so called gravy schedule next year he better be run out of town.

but PLEASE don't let this be another year where we only bring in a Frank Walker type of player.

"Bigbyfan" wrote:

Actually Frank Walker has been pretty good for the Ravens this year.

He even started a few games. I remember watching the Ravens vs Cowboys match-up a couple of Saturdays ago, and Walker was often responsible for covering TO.

He actually had a very good game. With Walker, it might be a case of things clicking mentally after he left the Packers, or perhaps the coaching staff weren't able to utilize his talents as well as the Ravens staff did.

Anyhooters, Ted saying we could have been better I think its about as brilliant as saying water is wet. No crap.

I hope to see a few changes, but I'm not hoping for an overhaul.

dfosterf (18-Aug) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.

Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice

beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason

Mucky Tundra (9-Aug) : THE GREEN BAY PACKERS ARE PLAYING FOOTBALL TONIGHT!!!!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!!!
Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
