I was happy to hear the comments (non-comments) that Teddy made. Especially those about free agency not being any more urgent this year than in the past and that the team has a solid foundation.
I know I'm in the minority on this, but I really believe that if you run this
exact same team out on the field next year, they win 11 games. I'd bet a month's pay on double digit victories.
I do think a couple free agents should and will be added to the mix, but none of them will be named Haynesworth, Peppers, Gross, or Suggs. And I think that's a good decision. The first 3 are going to command huge - possibly record breaking - salaries. Suggs won't come cheap and I don't think he's a 4-3 DE. At least not enough of one to justify paying what he'll ask for.
I'm in favor of guys along the same lines as Bert Berry. I think he's a perfect fit, as stated in other posts. Veteran. Pass Rusher. Inexpensive. Allows you to leave Cullen outside on running downs.
There are other that we already know will be free agents, but a lot of new guys names will surface come 2 rounds of cap casualties. Jason Taylor to name one would be very intriguing as a situational pass rusher.
I know it's frustrating for a lot of fans to watch their teams sit on the sidelines of free agency for the most part, but time and time again it proves to be the best strategy - albeit a bit boring. Maybe I'm just used to it as a fan of the Twins.
